Beautiful Creatures: Why I Picked This Book

Oooh! Did anyone else just get chills? What an amazing commercial! This movie came out in February but this past week Chris and I got it on Redbox. We've had it for a week now because I cannot stop watching it. I am so totally in love!

Usually I prefer reading the books first, before seeing the movies, but in this case it's the other way around. So after seeing the movie I heard/read so many wonderful reviews about the book and I just couldn't sit back and not read it.

I'm already on page 64 and totally sucked in. It doesn't matter that I've seen the movie and know what's going to happen, the writing in this is fantastic and it is pulling me in page after page. I'm so excited to continue reading this book and to love it as much as I love the movie.

Please join my book club and read this book with me for the month of September! Thanks!

Song of the Week: Downtown by Lady Antebellum

This song has been stuck in my head all week. I don't get it because it's probably my least favorite Lady Antebellum song. But don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of theirs! I've seen them twice in concert and they all signed my Lady Antebellum shirt! This song just isn't my favorite, because they have lots of better ones. Anyways, enjoy!

Fashion Friday: My Makeup Essentials

For me, makeup, hair and fashion all go hand in hand. So I apologize if you were looking forward to something about clothes or shopping, but this post is all about makeup. Mainly, the makeup I cannot live without. So let's dive right in.

NOTE: I am not a makeup "guru" or expert in anyway, I'm just showing the products that I love that work best for me.

This is me. I apologize for two reasons: 1. My camera sucks, especially as of recently. I noticed a smudge on the lens a week ago that cause all my pictures to be blurry in the center, but when I cleaned it, I think I just spread it around more. Or it just sucks. And 2. I was having one of these moments:

But I don't really apologize for the second one, because I like the way I am.

Anyways, the picture was to show my usual makeup (and apparently how puffy my cheeks are, holy cow...)

Here are my essential products:

This is a great foundation, in my opinion. It leaves your skin smooth and flawless! It does leave a bit of a shine to it though, which I know some people don't like, but I can usually get rid of the shine with my bronser or other powder foundations.

I just got this, I've only been using it a week, but OH MY GOSH!!! It's perfect!!! I have horrible horrible dark circles under my eyes, all the time. This stuff works incredibly to erase them! What's best is that it blends perfectly! Today I was too lazy to do tons of makeup so I just used this on a few spots and it worked like a charm at covering any imperfections, and most important for me, for getting rid off my under eye baggage. I love this stuff! I highly recommend it! (Sorry the picture is so blurry! I'm so angry at my camera right now!)

This is also for my under eyes. This stuff gets rid of the puffiness and works wonderfully! I love it! I've also used this on a pimple and it reduced the swelling on that too, so this stuff is really good.

I get so annoyed with mascaras, but I'm in love with this one by Maybelline! I love the way it makes my eyelashes look and I love how it leaves them soft, instead of crusty and hard. I love this mascara! Here's a close up on my eye makeup:

That looks so weird to me, but see how full my natural eyelashes look with this mascara? I love it! We'll get to the liner in a minute. Also, I need new bronser, because as you can see under my eye, mine has much too much glitter, and it gets everywhere. So if you have any good ones, please let me know in the comments!

I love Clinique Chubby Sticks!! This color is Super Strawberry and I absolutely love it! But I like many of their other colors as well. Its the perfect way to apply some color to the lips. I know there is a drugstore brand of something like this, and I'm going to check it out soon. I'll let you know how it works. :)

I know you can't read it, but this is NYX Liquid Liner. I always uses this stuff to line my upper lashes and I'm in love with this stuff! It works so well and even with my incredibly shaky hand, it's easy for me to apply and get a good looking line. I love it. They also have many colors, but mine is a dark gray.

I usually use a pencil, crayon, or gel crayon liner on my bottom lashes, but I haven't found one that really stands out to me yet. I do like the Ulta ones, but I'm still looking for one I'm in love with.

Well, those are my makeup essentials! If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment. I'm sorry this post is short, but I have to get to class like... right now.. uh oh. Thanks for reading!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST DAD IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!
I LOVE YOU DADDY!!

August Favorites

I'm recently addicted to Meghan Rosette videos on Youtube. Every month she makes a video of all her monthly favorites. I'm going to try to do that on my blog! So this is the first month of that and I hope you like it! If not, just don't read it.

FAVORITE SNACK: Great Value Fruit Smiles!

My husband was just getting mad at me because he found like ten wrappers for the fruit smiles around our living room (which inspired this whole post, and shows that I'm no good at throwing away my wrappers... sorry mom!). They are just so yummy and the most simple snack there is! I love them so much!

FAVORITE MAKEUP PRODUCT: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

I'm going to be talking more about this in tomorrow's post, but just know that I love it. I've only been using it a week, but it's been fantastic for me. More on it tomorrow...

FAVORITE MOVIE: Beautiful Creatures

I know this movie came out a while ago, but Chris and I saw it for the first time this weekend. We rented it on Redbox and didn't return it for a few days because I just kept wanting to watch it! I just love it so much! This next month for my book club we're going to be reading this book, because I really want to read it because of how much I love the movie. :)

FAVORITE BLOG: Lauren Conrad

I love reading blogs so so much! And I love supporting bloggers by sharing them on my blog. Lately I've been inspired by Lauren Conrad's blog found HERE. It inspired me to pick The Fame Game for my book club this month. But I love her blog, definitely check it out!

FAVORITE EVENT: Fiddler on the Roof

This month I got to see Fiddler on the Roof at the Ellen Eccles Theater in Logan. It was so much fun! I've always loved the movie and it was so great to see it live! They did a great job. But they did have all the lyrics to the songs displayed on a projector and that was really weird, but other than that, the production was fantastic!

FAVORITE SONG: Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

This song is just amazing and I listen to it constantly and never get sick of it. But I don't understand the music video... If you get it, please leave a comment below.

FAVORITE WEBSITE: Mint.com

If you haven't already, I highly recommend creating an account there. It monitors all our bank accounts and loans, it notifies us of any problems, it's just perfect. It's wonderfully useful and I think everyone with a bank account should make an account.

FAVORITE HAIR PRODUCT: Ever Straight Brazilian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray

I straighten my hair a lot and use heat on it a lot. I've only been using this a week, so this isn't an official review, but I have been enjoying it and it smells pretty good.

These are my August favorites! If you have any questions, comments or suggestions of new products for me to use or review, please leave a comment or send me an email. :) Thanks for reading!

Also: GO USU AGGIES!!!

Web Video Wednesday: Martin Luther King Jr.

Today is the 50th anniversary of this speech! For one of my English classes I have to read this speech for class today, so I decided to share the video with you! NOTE: I was unable to watch this video beforehand because it wouldn't let me, so I don't actually know what happens in the video yet. Let me know what you think!

Motivation Monday: Back to School

So I just have a few quick things to say before I "motivate" you today.

In about an hour, I start college classes again after taking a year off. While I told everyone I was taking it off to make more money, which was true, I had other reasons as well. I've really been struggling with college. I've failed multiple classes, I've dealt with drama and depression, I felt lonely and friend-less, I had a professor tell me my writing was awful, and it scarred me into not writing again.

I'm married now and living with the kindest, friendliest man alive. He works so hard to keep my happy and does a fantastic job at it! We both have a new "spirit" about us and both want to work hard to do well in school this year. While I'm still debating what my major should be, I am much more confident about this school year.

I had my professor tell me my writing was awful, and for a long time after that I didn't write. This coming from the girl who started writing stories and poems daily since third grade. I was mortified to write after what my professor had said, after failing me. I didn't want to write anymore because I didn't want to fail.

If you haven't already noticed, I've written over 300 posts on this blog in the last year, and I'm not slowing down now. I started this blog in the attempt to start writing again, and to forget what my professor had said, and it worked. I know some of these posts aren't the best, but I write this blog for me, and I write this blog to write. Since starting this blog I've been more confident in my writing and have started working on my book again. I have a new confidence in my writing, and I owe it to this blog and all my readers.

So thank you for reading my blog! You've helped me build up my confidence and you've helped me to get over a struggling time in my life. THANK YOU!!!

Since I'm going back to school today, this week I really do need the motivation!! So here are some great quotes to help us all through our week! Good luck on your first days of school!! LET'S ALL MAKE THIS THE BEST SCHOOL YEAR EVER!!!

Pinterest Sundays: Dinosaur, Vest, Hugging a Fish, Mila Kunis, Tiger, Etsy, Anthony Robbins, Library, Lies, Fall, Friends, Isaiah, Dance, Demi Lovato, Victoria Secret, Youtube, Bed, Princesses, Books, and Children.

I missed last Sunday and I was so upset! So this week's might be extra long, might be, we'll see. Enjoy!

So there's a super long pin that can be found HERE and I'm in love with it! Please check it out!!

I don't have much to say about this picture except that I love it. :)

I love this outfit so much and it's getting me really excited for fall! If you haven't already, don't forget to check out my back to school looks

I'm in love with this picture. It's both adorable and hilarious at the same time. Her face is just so cute! This picture reminds me of my husband and his love for fish and I'm sure he'll teach our daughter to love fish as much as this little girl. Ha ha!

My husband always tells me I look like Mila Kunis, I disagree, but I absolutely love her hair and makeup in this picture and it's a look that I would love to try out for myself.

Love this quote and picture! It's just so cute and inspiring!

Spiritual Thought: Talk on Contention

So today Chris and I gave talks in sacrament* about avoiding contention in marriage. I'm just going to paste my talk below so you can read it if you'd like. I'm one of those people that just reads from a paper, so it's all there below. I apologize for any errors, but it's a talk, not a school assignment and I knew what I meant. If you want to know where I got any of the quotes, just let me know and I'll find them for you. Let me know what you think!

Good morning everyone! My name is Kaylee Farnes. And that’s my husband Chris. We’ve been in this ward for three months, but we’ve been visiting home and been on vacations and stuff, so if you don’t recognize us, that’s because we really haven’t been here very much yet. But we’ve loved every time we have come and we’re excited to start coming to this ward more regularly.

A little background on us, we actually have very similar histories. We were both born in California and our families both moved to Utah when we were around two. He grew up in Kaysville and I grew up in Sandy and we met up here in Logan through my roommate. Chris was on my roommate’s soccer team and she helped get us together. And after only a month of dating we both knew we wanted to get married to each other but we didn’t get engaged for a year and then we didn’t get married till six months after that. So we’ve known each other for almost two years now. We are both going to school right now at Utah State, Chris is majoring in journalism and I am currently majoring in English so if my talk sounds like an essay that’s because it is. And while I’m very confident in writing, I am not confident in speaking, so I apologize that I’m a fairly awkward public speaker.

When my parents first learned that Chris and I wanted to get married, my dad asked me a very important question. He asked me, “Do you and Chris fight?” He asked this partly because he never wanted me to grow up and get married and he was thinking of ways to prevent it, but he also had good intentions behind the question. My dad always told me that fights will happen in relationships and in marriage but to be a successful couple, you have to learn together how to handle any arguments or contention, which is what the topic of our talks are about today.

I feel very intimidated that I’ve only been married for three months but I was asked to lecture you about how to avoid contention in marriage. I was also very humbled to receive this talk because while we haven’t had any major fights or anything, I feel that avoiding contention in marriage is something that I needed to learn and something that I needed to read about and focus on. And I learned a lot while putting this talk together.

Proverbs chapter 18:6-7 reads “A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.” And then Proverbs 13:10 “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.”

So in Proverbs we learn that only a fool enters into contention and contention is brought on by pride. When my sister and I were younger we used to always listen to this song called “I’m No Fool” and it was sung by Jiminy Cricket and he taught us not to be fools because apparently fools don’t live as long according to the Disney song. So apparently if we want to live longer, we cannot be fools, and to not be fools we have to avoid pride and contention.

I do agree that contention is brought on by pride. In the scriptures, the Lord continually warns us about being prideful, and there are so many scriptures that tell us to avoid pride. In Preach My Gospel it tells us “To be prideful means to put greater trust in oneself than in God or in His servants. It also means to put the things of the world above the things of God.”

We cannot be prideful in marriage. President Spencer W. Kimball suggests that “There is a never-failing formula which will guarantee to every couple a happy and eternal marriage.” There are four ingredients to this formula. First, is getting married in the temple. Second is unselfishness. Third is continual courting, affection, kindness, and keeping love alive and growing. And the last is living the commandments.”

Marriage, especially temple marriage is about selflessness and pride is about selfishness. When we begin to become prideful and we put ourselves or the things of the world above our marriage, or more importantly, above God, that’s when contention arises. Contention is brought on by the devil, never by God.

The Lord warns us in 3rd Nephi chapter 11: 28-30, “For verily, verily I say unto you, he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger one with another. But behold, this is not my doctrine…; but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.”

The Lord urges that contention should be done away. So especially in marriage, we must avoid pride and contention in order to keep a happy, and Christ centered home. If you want a home free of contention you have to work for it, and work together, like my dad said, to figure out how to avoid any conflicts that may occur, because small conflict will most likely occur.

Brigham Young urged the members of the church to “Build faith in one another and avoid contention.” “If we lack confidence in each other, and be jealous of each other, our peace will be destroyed.”

We have to trust in our spouse and have confidence in each other’s decisions in order to keep the peace and avoid contention in the home. Sometimes having faith in each other is hard or it’s hard to have confidence in each other’s decisions. Sometimes we think our spouse is making silly decisions and we wonder what on earth they are doing, but in marriage you have to put trust in your spouse.

Contention does arise in marriage though. We all have our conflicts and it’s up to us to keep those conflicts small and learn how to handle them, as well as how to avoid them in the future.
To resolve conflicts in marriage, we must concentrate on our own weaknesses. Elder Neal A. Maxwell said: “If the choice is between reforming other Church members or ourselves, is there really any question about where we should begin? The key is to have our eyes wide open to our own faults and partially closed to the faults of others, not the other way around! The imperfections of others never release us from the need to work on our own shortcomings.” (Conference Report April 1982)

I love this quote! Let me repeat the first part again, “If the choice is between reforming other church members or ourselves, is there really any question about where we should begin?” We have to begin resolving conflicts and contention with ourselves, not with our spouse. I think that we always find things we wish our spouse did differently, but we cannot expect them to change, we have to change ourselves first. We have to learn how to deal with the situation and forgive our spouses for the flaws we “think” they may have.

Spencer W. Kimball says, “Marriage partners must be quick to forgive. If we sue for peace, taking the initiative in settling differences –if we forgive and forget with all our hearts … if we forgive all real or fancied offences before we ask forgiveness of our own sins –if we pay our own debts, large or small,  before we press our debtors –if we manage to clear our own eyes of the blinding beams before we magnify the motes in the eyes of others –what a glorious world this would be! Divorce would be reduced to a minimum; courts would be freed from disgusting routines; family life would be heavenly; the building of the kingdom would go forward at an accelerated pace; and the peace which passeth understanding would bring to us all a joy and happiness which has hardly ‘entered into the heart of man.’”

If we can forgive our spouses, there will be peace in the home. To prevent any further contention in marriage we have to continually forgive our spouses as well as do all we can to live the gospel and make it a gospel and Christ centered home.

President Marion G. Romney says “I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow. The spirit of contention will depart. Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom. Children will be more responsive and submissive to the cousel of their parents. Righteousness will increase. Faith, hope, and charity –the pure love of Christ –will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness.” (Ensign, May 1980)

By living the gospel we can avoid contention in the home and in marriage. I’ve learned the truth of this in my own life when I was struggling with my testimony. When my testimony was wavering, I was much quicker to anger and contention, but as I began to learn more and focused more on church and helped my testimony grow again, I felt more at peace.

I love that we received this topic because it’s basically all about love. If you love your spouse, trust them, care for them, and live unselfishly with them, you can easily avoid contention. I love the quote by Gordon B. Hinckley that says, “True love is not so much a matter of romance as it is a matter of anxious concern for the well being of one’s companion.”

If we stay concerned about our companion and always care for them, we will always have true love in the home and will easily be able to avoid contention. We have to keep the gospel strong in our homes and always make the spirit welcome. We have to forgive our spouse and live selflessly. We cannot expect to change our partner, but must think about changing ourselves first. Don’t be a fool and give into contention, and you’ll supposedly live longer. If we each follow all these guidelines, we can have a long and happy marriage.

I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to research this topic and learn so many wonderful things about it. I am so grateful for my husband and for his constant love and concern for me. And I am so grateful for my Father in Heaven who constantly watches over us and keeps us safe and helps us in every way. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

*So my husband and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS. If you have any questions about our faith, please feel free to leave a comment or email me! You can also learn more about our church HERE

Song of the Week: See You Again

This song has been stuck in my head all week. This was the first time I saw this music video and it made me tear up a little bit! It's absolutely beautiful! Carrie is flawless! She has the most incredible voice... in the world... I love and admire her so much. I hope you enjoyed this song of the week!

...and as a special treat here's a video to show how cute she is:

Fashion Fridays: Back to School

I know I'm not the only one that reserves my best outfits, and the most time and energy into looking great for back to school. Whether you're in high school, college, elementary, whatever, it's always a good idea to look good for back to school, because in most cases, it's a way to make a great first impression. You'll always meet new people the first day of school, so it's good to look your best.

Below are tons of outfit ideas as well as hair and makeup tutorials (sorry boys, this post is catered to girls).

This outfit is incredibly simple! Just jeans, a white T-shirt and a scarf! So easy to pull together even if you don't have money to buy new school clothes. I personally would substitute the heels though, while I love heels, walking all over campus in heels is not my favorite.

This is similar, but brighter and more summery. In Utah, we have to wear out our summer clothes as long as we can, because as the fall/winter season starts, you'll be in coats for months.

Another incredibly simple outfit. If you're going to wear just a white T-shirt and leggings, make sure you add an accent color with shoes or jewelry.

I'm a huge fan of the basics. I love this outfit because it's so simple, but can still look really good if everything fits properly.

This shirt would be great for back to school! It's simple and casual but it has a fun flirty twist.

I love everything about this outfit. It's simple, it's adorable and I'm in love with that bag.

I'm obviously sticking with the simple stuff in this post (because I have no money to spend on clothes so I assume no one else has money either). This outfit is really pulled together by such a cute cardigan! Without the cardigan, the outfit would look frumpy.

I'm a huge fan of cardigans (obviously) but my favorite piece in this picture is the adorable flowered tank top! It's super cute with the ruffles and very flirty and fun.

This is more dressy, but still in a very casual way. I love ballet flats and these ones would be a perfect neutral for many outfits. The skirt on this is adorable!

HAPPY ONE YEAR!!!

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO MY BLOG!!!

In honor of the one year anniversary of my blog (which was technically last week), I'm going to share my top ten favorite posts I've written on this blog (from oldest to newest)! Enjoy!!

I love this post because it was the very first one. It's really random, but it started the whole thing so I love it.

I love Demi Lovato and in this post I really started to let you all into my personal life and my past so I've always loved this post. (I apologize that some of the pictures don't show up correctly)

This post was written before I was even engaged, and now I'm married. It's just a really important post to me and I just really like this one.

This one makes me laugh because I was so excited to reach 1000 page views. Now I'm at 18,456 page views and I just keep getting more every day. I'm so thankful for this blog and it's humbling to look back at where it all started and how I got to this point.

I absolutely loved working in the daycare. It was my favorite think in the world and my most favorite job I've ever had. We had crazy moments and hectic days, but it didn't matter. I loved that job because it was so much fun working with those kids. (I'm currently stressing out and considering switching my major so I can teach kindergarten, and writing this only makes me want to change my major more...) I also really like this post HERE or HERE, they are both related and I would love for you to check them out, but they don't need to be included in this list.

Best post ever. Being engaged was so much fun! Getting proposed to was the greatest thing ever! It's so great to look back at a post like this and remember how I felt and how excited I was. (PS, being married is better than all of that, I love my husband!!)

I hope to always put up a New Year Resolution post, but this one is the first, so it's special to me.

I wanted to start branching out my viewership and posting things about different topics that more and more people would enjoy. Everything has changed now, but this was the start.

This is an organization that is very important to me and that I love, so this post is important to me.

I wrote this today actually, but I love it because it explains everything. This blog is my journal, I leave out the most personal stuff, but I share a lot with all my readers, and I love doing it! I love writing on this blog! It's weird, it's not the best blog in the world, but I love it and I will never stop writing because this is what makes me happy.

I'd also have to say I loved when I won the Liebster Award, when I started Pinterest Sundays, when I wrote about my favorite fictional couples, the things I learned from being married for three weeks, when I wrote about my honeymoon, and how I write a lot about cows

I'm so grateful for this blog, I can't believe it's been a year already!! I absolutely love writing on this blog and I promise you, this is just the beginning of something great. There are always changes and additions to this blog, because I want to keep my readers entertained.

If there is anything you want me to write about, let me know! If you want me to review a product for you: email me, I'd be happy to! If you want to be a guest blogger, I'd absolutely love to have you do it! If you want to be featured on my blog (through Web Video Wednesday, Song of the Week Saturday, or other posts), please contact me and I'll gladly write about you on my blog!

Don't forget to join my book club, #dancingcowbookclub. Don't forget to leave comments and send emails! I respond to each and every one so please don't hesitate to ask questions or tell me a story, I'll love to hear it!

Why I Write on This Blog

Yesterday I wrote a post about this week and the hard times I've been going through. It was fairly long, no pictures, pretty depressing, and looking back it reminded me slightly of this picture that all over Pinterest lately:

Yes, I realize yesterday's post is one that won't be the top rated post on my blog. And yes, I know that it's annoying sometimes to have someone vent all their problems to you.

But guess what!!

I don't write on this blog to please the world, I write on it to make myself feel better. I've always been one find joy in writing. When I was upset or feeling depressed I would write poems or stories or write in my journal. This blog is basically a public, censored journal of my life. Because that's what makes me happy. I write this blog for me.

Don't get me wrong, I love all my readers! I honestly do. I love all your support and your comments (especially the girl who commented on yesterday's post, that totally made my day) and I love seeing my page views go up. But I am writing this blog for me.

I love this blog and I put a lot of effort into it and I hope you love it too. I know it has flaws, I know I make some grammar errors (I'm seriously the worst English major ever), I know some posts aren't that exciting to the rest of the world but in the end, this blog is for me and what I like.

I love you guys!! You help encourage me to keep this blog going!! You're the best!!

Recent (Crazy) Events

As I said yesterday, this week has been going downhill. But things are sort of looking up... sort of.

Monday started with me learning that all my classes had been dropped and my tuition not paid. I stayed calm for like twenty whole minutes while I applied for new classes, learning the ones I had previously had were now full, so I couldn't take them anymore, messing with my whole schedule. After about twenty minutes I just broke down crying because this is like the third time this summer that the school has screwed me over.

Also on Monday I had to turn down two dance teaching jobs. Two. I've been wanting to teach dance for basically forever, and I had to turn down two jobs doing it??? Why? Because a) the school messed up my schedule and b) I got my old job back. I was so angry with myself that I had to turn them down, because I've been wanting to do it forever. It is just so frustrating that the opportunity appears and I can't take it.

So Monday I started my old job working as a custodian at the student center. It's a good job. It's steady, stable, and it will really help us money-wise. We'll be able to pay our rent! Yay! ...Because also Monday, our landlord came over to tell us that our rent check was returned because of insufficient funds in our account. Just another problem this week. Starting my old job was good. I love my boss, she's fantastic, but most the other employees are new so I feel like an outsider. And cleaning the toilets in the student center isn't my ideal job. But I had to take what I could get, and after three months, this is apparently all I can get (except for two dance jobs I couldn't take and a crossing guard job that I'm about to talk about).

So Tuesday I had to talk to my mom and have her lend us some money to pay off our rent. In about a week, we'll receive our refund check from our financial aid, so I will be paying my mom back as soon as that comes, but regardless, I absolutely hate having to borrow money from my parents. I'm married now, it's not supposed to be this way, but it was incredibly necessary yesterday.

Tuesday I also had training for my crossing guard job, however, because the school dropped my classes and I had to get new classes, I can no longer do the job Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Yes it's an alternate position, so I wouldn't have to work everyday, but I don't know if I should just quit this job too or try to do it and just not take M,W, F afternoon shifts, but that just doesn't seem fair to everyone else. And I was going to talk to the boss at the training, but she wasn't there and it was the cute old man and I just couldn't do it. So I'm currently still a crossing guard and I work this Thursday and Friday to be trained on the job, but I don't know if (or how) it will last.

(PS, back home we have a neighbor who is an actor who does a lot of Mormon movies, he's good friends with my dad, he was in the crossing guard training video. It was funny!)

Chris got a hold of the financial aid office on Tuesday and they explained why our Pell Grants weren't the full amount. We got all that figured out, but with my class schedule I still have to pay $200.02 out of pocket for this semester, which we won't have until our refund gets here. And if I don't pay it soon, they'll drop my classes again! (because I'm not already feeling stressed enough)

So... yeah... I'm incredibly stressed this week. And I just don't know what to do about my tuition and the crossing guard thing. So I have a lot to think about and a lot to do this week because school starts next week.... yeah... So basically those are my recent events. I just... yeah...

Web Video Wednesdays: James Galea

Ahh magic... it's one of my favorite things. I am so amazed by magic tricks! Not the gross ones where they stab themselves, but card tricks and disappearing trick and the little things, it just makes me so happy!! My husband (without my permission) got The Incredible Burt Wonderstone from Redbox. I'll be honest... I hated it... but it did spark up again my love of magic. So after that movie (while I tried to forget the fact I ever watched it) I started looking up magic tricks on Youtube. And I'm obsessed with Ellen, so I had to post a clip from The Ellen Degeneres Show!

The Fame Game Discussion Post

Today is Tuesday, HAPPY TUESDAY!! The point of Happy Tuesday on my blog is to post something happy, but this week has been continually getting worse and worse... and it's only Tuesday. So I don't have anything happy to write about. But instead of putting you all down by telling about all my problems, I'm just posting the discussion post for my book club.

This month's book is "The Fame Game" by Lauren Conrad. I finished this book a few days ago and enjoyed it very much! I'll be writing an official review of the book in a later post.

This post is for anyone who read the book with me. Leave a comment below. Ask questions, give your review of the book, answer the discussion questions, say absolutely whatever you want about the book!  I'll do my best to reply to every response and anyone else can reply as well. If you don't already know, I'm in school to become a high school English teacher, so this is practice for me.

WARNING, SPOILERS BELOW!!

Discussion Questions:

  • Do you feel Madison made the right choice to take the blame for her father? Why or why not?
  • How would you feel if you were friends with this group of girls? Do you think you'd get along with them? Is there one that you would get along with best?
  • What do you think about Trevor Lord?
  • Who do you think is the main protagonist of the story? Or is there one at all? Is there an antagonist?
  • After reading this, do you want to read the second book, Starstruck? Why or why not?
  • Did you read LA Candy before hand? Do you feel this offered a better insight for you into this novel?
(These questions are completely optional, just some things to think about)

Motivation Monday:

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend like I did! I was crazy busy helping out with my best friend's wedding, but it was all worth it. Her reception was absolutely beautiful! Without a doubt the prettiest wedding I've been too. She looked gorgeous and so happy! They are so meant to be together and I love them both very much, and as I was reminded by them this weekend, it's all because of me that they got together. I'm a pretty great friend, just saying. ;)

In honor of them, this week's motivational quote is about love.

I love this quote because I have found in my almost 2 year relationship with my husband, that love is the most important thing in our lives and everything comes back to the solid base of love. Love is magical! It makes you happier than you've ever felt before! It brings you a peace and comfort. It takes away your fears. It means getting to have someone who will protect you and care for you for all your life and more!

If you are not presently in love, here's a quote for you:

I had been waiting to find a love like in the movies and TV shows, and that was wrong. When I stopped looking and I found Chris, it wasn't movie love, it was REAL LOVE. Don't look for the wrong things, look for reality and you'll find your one true love.

Fashion Friday: What I Want

So I don't have anything too exciting for this week's post, however, tonight and tomorrow I will be a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding and have some pretty awesome outfits I'll be wearing! So for next week I'll show off all of those and also during the week I'll talk about the wedding.

I have known Lauren for what feels like my whole life, we didn't get along at first (she was very bossy and I was an extremely shy child who couldn't stand up for herself (I still can't sometimes)) but we ended up building a friendship that was so strong and so wonderful in every way. I absolutely adore Lauren and am so excited to be apart of her big day!

Lauren and Trevor, I am so so happy for the two of you!! You will love married life, it's so much fun! I love you both so much and am so happy to be there for you this weekend!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Back to Fashion Friday... today I don't have anything good for you so I'm just going to show off some of my favorite Pinterest outfits that I want to buy. You can find all these images and more on my Pinterest page, found HERE

I'm a huge fan of this maxi skirt faze that's going on. I have two, but I really want more. I love the one above because it looks all flow-y and I love the color. I also love these shoes.

I am so in love with this outfit. Everything about it. The shirt is so adorable and the pants and I love the bold shoe. It's just perfect.

I really really really want these boots!! So so much!!

I think this shirt is super cute! It would be so much fun to have.

I love everything about this picture. Except the pearls, I'm not a pearl kind of girl.

I love this so much and I wish that I had a skirt like this to wear to the wedding. I honestly don't know what to wear! I'm kind of freaking out!!

Sorry this is a fairly short post, but I honestly have to pack and get ready for this weekend. Thanks for reading!!

Jobs

So yesterday and today have been kind of crazy. Yesterday I woke up and went off to a job interview. At the interview they told me I was hired and sent me to a clinic to be drug tested. Today they called me up and told me when to come in for training. This is to be an alternate crossing guard.

I think being a crossing guard sounds fun! I'm always drawn to service oriented jobs, that's why I love working in daycares and want to be a teacher, because those things don't feel like work, it just feels like service, and I love that. I think working as a crossing guard will just feel like service as well. So I'm excited. I wish it was a full time position and I could do it everyday, but I'll take what I can get.

(I still haven't heard back from a dance teaching position that I would love. It fits perfectly into my schedule and I've been wanting to teach dance for so so long, I really really want this job!)

Today I got a phone call from my old boss from working as a custodian in the student center. I worked there for three year and had a really great time. I loved my boss, still do, she called me today and we're on great speaking terms, and she offered me my job back.

Honestly I have mixed feelings. I did love that job. It was a great job as a student (which I still am) it fits perfectly into my schedule and it pays enough to pay the majority of our rent. But I kind of wanted something new. I have nothing against custodial work, I enjoyed it and I wish more people would realize the things that we do to make a building look good, but I wanted a new experience.

I took my job back because while I wanted something new, I have been searching for the past three months and have applied for so many jobs (seriously, I applied for at least one job a day, usually more, you do the math) and after three months I had nothing to show for it, and only three interviews for the whole three months.

I'm not "settling" for my custodial job back, I've happy to go back! I really truly am. I just wish that in my three months of job searching someone else would have wanted me to work for them. I love working, I absolutely hate unemployment and the past three months have been filled with stress and depression because I felt like a total failure for not finding a job or getting any interviews.

Everyone kept asking me about it and constantly adding more pressure. "Why don't you have a job yet?" "Have you applied for this job yet?" "Maybe you aren't trying hard enough." "My job in Salt Lake would hire you." "You should try for this job." "You aren't doing enough, that's why you don't have a job yet."

It was so hard going through these past three months of unemployment. I hated it. My husband was always able to make me happy again temporarily, but when he went off to work it would just remind me that I didn't have anywhere to go. And from just moving back to Logan, I didn't have any friends to turn to either. The past three months have been absolutely horrible.

I am so excited that I get to start working again on Monday! It's even better because she called me, I didn't need an interview, I don't have to go through training, I know the job, I know the boss, and she sounded absolutely thrilled to have me come back, which is exactly the work environment I want to be in.

I'm excited to have a job again! I'm so so excited and I hope that everyone else can be excited for me too! :)

Web Video Wednesday: Merida in Clay

My husband is in love with the movie Brave. I still don't completely understand it. He did serve his mission in Scotland, and has a great love of the place (he wants us to move there someday) but I don't understand why Brave is such a great movie. I think the other Pixar movies are better. But Brave is his favorite. And we've seen it like five times since getting married.

So we watched it a few days ago so it's kind of in my head and while exploring Youtube I found this video about this adorable Italian girl who makes the Disney princesses out of clay. She is incredibly talented and you should definitely check her out! You can find her Youtube channel HERE and here's the video of her making Merida from Brave!

I also like the piano versions of the actual songs from the movie! I also watched the Rupunzel one and it was good too. This girl is very talented! I could never do this in my life.

Happy Tuesday: Date Night Idea

So Sunday was our 3 month anniversary of being married. YAY! Being married has seriously been the greatest thing ever! It's so much fun! You should try it sometime in your life.

We wanted to celebrate so last night we had a date night! It was a typical sort of date night, dinner and a movie, but I absolutely HAVE TO talk about this dinner place!! It was so delicious and so much fun! So if you're in Logan, Utah, you have to check this out.

So when I saw Fiddler on the Roof, the program told me about this Kabuki place that I had never been to, and was pretty sure I'd never seen before. I don't like sushi, but it has hibachi grilling, where they cook the food in front of you. It sounded like a fun idea and they had a fairly good deal so we decided to check it out.

We got the two for $30 deal. This got us drinks, soup, salad, an appetizer or dessert and two meats with the rice and steamed vegetables. I know $30 seems a lot for a meal to college students like myself, but this place was very much worth the money.

So they started us out with our soup (so delicious), salads (best dressing ever) and our appetizer. We picked the won tons (I'm pretty sure), and I wasn't a huge fan of them. But I loved the soup and salad. Both were very delicious. The soup looked really weird because it just looked like water with some mushrooms floating in it (and I don't like mushrooms) but I gave it a try and it was super delicious!

Then he started to cook in front of us. He did all the cool tricks and he was lots of fun. Chris caught some food in his mouth, it was just a fun experience. (In the background there are a ton of photos, this is because they have a birthday club and they love to celebrate birthdays! All those photos, and more, are from birthdays. Chris and I signed up for their birthday club so we can see what kind of deals we get.)

Chris ordered beef and salmon. His plate looked like this:

And PS, those plates are huge, it may not look like a lot, but it really was.
I ordered the chicken and salmon, my plate looked like this:

Both of us absolutely loved our salmon!! It was cooked perfectly and I can't even describe how good that salmon was. It was perfect. And I've had a lot of salmon in my life, but this one possibly tops it all. (Notice how my plate is much more orderly?)

We both loved our meals! They were so delicious in every way! I highly recommend this restaurant. USU student, it makes for a great date night!! Wink wink!

We tried to take some pictures but my camera is awful in dim lighting. It only works in full daylight or night. Any in-between light and it doesn't like to cooperate. I'm kind of wanting a new camera. Anyways. So then we also got pictures outside with the sign:

And some guy offered to take our picture but the strap got caught on my wrist and my poor camera fell to the cement... it took a chip out of it and wouldn't like the guy take a picture, but it seems to be doing fine now... fingers crossed... I need it to last a while longer.

After eating we drove around and found an elementary school playground where we played on the swings. I'm obsessed with swings and could play on a swingset all day long.

When the time came we drove to the movie theater to see Despicable Me 2. So I'm absolutely in love with Despicable Me (the first one) and I could honestly watch it every day, and the second one did not live up to my expectations. It had good parts, funny parts, really entertaining parts, but as a whole, it wasn't the best movie. I was sad. I expected more from it. But it's cute and Agnes is just adorable so you have to watch it for her.

So there's a lovely date night for anyone living in Logan, Utah! Seriously check out Kabuki, it was so good and so worth the cost!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
