New Hair

So... something a little crazy happened on Saturday...

Totally kidding. That's only a wig. But wouldn't I look fantastic as a blond? Also, everyone says I look like a doll in that photo, and I don't really know what to think about that.

Anyways, I did not go blond. I went darker. Thank goodness. I love having dark hair and it totally works with my Halloween costume... and personality.

I don't have much to say about my new hair, just that I love it. I slightly miss the length, but my hair grows fast so I'm not worried. I just love having long hair, and this doesn't feel long to me, not after what I previously had. But for the past few months, the length was getting on my nerves so I really needed it cut. I love my cut.

Before.

The chunk that was cut off.

My mom and brother got their hair done as well!

This was an awkward process.

After!

Here's a comparison of my before and after. I don't look as happy in the after, but I promise I'm super happy about my new look!

What do y'all think of my new do?

Crazy Pup

While taking these photos Mr. Zoram Gerrard was running around me like a crazy fool. He loves to run. I wish we had a backyard so he could run and run and we wouldn't have to go chasing after him down the street... because unlike my dog I hate running.

Anyways, I want to apologize for these pictures. Clearly Chris still needs to work on his photography skills. He always cuts off my shoes and never gets details shown. We're working on it.

Also, I like the way my hair looks in these. I feel like the ends look more blond in these photos, even though it's technically red, but it's making me think I should dye the ends blond. I do want to change my hair soon. And cut a few inches off. The length is a bit out of control. I still want it long but it's getting hard to manage.

Look, there's Zoram in the corner, going crazy.

Look at that cute little face! I feel like he "poses" for pictures a lot and does that open mouth smile most times I have a camera out. He's so photogenic.

I may be biased because black is my favorite color, but I think every girl needs a go-to black dress. The above dress is mine. However it's so old I don't remember where it's even from! So below are a bunch of awesome black dresses, all under $50, that you can buy... or I can buy... I want them all!!

February Ipsy Bag Review

Hello friends! Today I am going to be reviewing my February Ipsy bag, which was also my first Ipsy bag ever! If you want to watch me opening up my Ipsy bag for the first time CLICK HERE.

For those of you not familiar with Ipsy, Ispy is a monthly subscription that sends you a makeup bag of five different beauty products every month! If you would like to sign up for your own Ipsy subscription you can by CLICKING HERE (this particular link does give me more points on my personal Ipsy account, so if you don't want to give me points then feel free to Google it on your own, I'm not going to do that work for you, I know it's selfish, but hey, I'm sure you'll forgive me).

February's theme was "Pretty in #IpsyPink" and the makeup bag (as you'll see below) was a love note envelope (I believe it's an emoji but I'm not familiar with many of those, #worstbloggerever). For my first Ipsy bag I loved it! It's so cute and while slender, it fits quite a bit. I'm still trying to decide what I can do with this, and my future Ipsy bags, but it's a cute little gift regardless.

The main reason I subscribed to Ipsy is because I LOVE trying out new products. How will you ever know what you love if you don't test out new things? And for me personally, where it seems like I'm always low on money, I can't afford to buy high-end products just to test them. That's why Ipsy was so appealing to me. For only $10 a month I can test out small versions of products I wouldn't normally spend the money on to test out, but if I learn I love it, I'm happy to buy the real version.

For this and future Ipsy bag reviews I will have a couple categories for each product:

  • Positives of the product
  • Negatives of the product
  • Value compared to the actual product
  • Would I purchase this product
So without any further ado, lets get in the reviews of my February products!

*I will not be reviewing the Ciate London - My Go To Red (affiliate link) nail polish. I have not tried it and don't believe I will. I'm not into nail polish unless it's black. Ha ha. But I've read great things about this brand and it's fairly cheap, so I think it's worth a try... I just need a black shade.

Model Co - Lip Lacquer Lip Gloss in Morocco

POSITIVES: This is the greatest smelling lip gloss of my entire life. It's like strawberries and happiness in a bottle and I'm in love. It's a very pretty color, not too out there or mellow, it's very natural. It has a nice shine as well.

NEGATIVES: The website says it's not sticky, but I would highly disagree, and wearing this lip gloss with my long hair down and trying to wrestle a puppy meant my hair was stuck to my lips for a while.

VALUE: Retail price is $24 (I tried so hard to look up how many ounces it is, but apparently this company is against releasing the information). So while mine is obviously a smaller, travel size, the fact that I paid $10 and got other products as well makes this worth it to me.

WOULD I BUY THIS PRODUCT? I think I would IF I had extra money. I really like the color for me and the smell I just want to have with me at all time. I really do like this product, I'm just super cheap.

Tre Stique Blush Stick in Bora Bora Coral

POSITIVES: I've never used a blush stick before and was pleasantly surprised. The creamy formula allows you to get a good amount on your skin, but it also blends well, without any lines or indication you had just drawn a line on your face with a lipstick-like product. I'm in love with the color! I have never used a coral color on my skin before and realized how amazing it works with my skin tone! I also was able to use this product as a lipstick one day, and again the color suited me so much better than I had ever imagined. Apparently I need to buy coral lipstick and blush more.

NEGATIVES: I can't think of any... it's little, that's upsetting.

VALUE: This product is normally $34. I just learned this trial twists out to give me more, I thought was I saw was all it had. So I'd say it's definitely worth the value.

WOULD I BUY THIS PRODUCT? Ugh. I want to say yes, because I love it, but $34?!? I can't imagine myself spending that much money on blush, especially where blush and lip color are the products I tend to forget to put on in the morning. Maybe on a splurge day if it's on sale, but I honestly don't see myself going out and buying this in my current financial state, even though I love it. I'll have to look for a similar drugstore version.

Argan Oil Ultimate Reform Hair Serum (affiliate link)

POSITIVES: The smell is nice. It comes in a bottle like essential oils which is kind of cool.

NEGATIVES: Here's the deal, I don't really have negative, but I don't fully feel like this product has done anything for me. I do believe the reason for this is because there's so little of it and I have long, thick hair. I feel like I've been using a lot so it'll run out soon.

VALUE: This product is $39 ($24.76 if you use my link above through Amazon). At first that seemed pretty high, but then I realized I've spent over $25 on It's a 10  products before (affiliate link). My hair is important to me so I do spend a lot on it, so the value makes sense to me. As far as my sample though, I don't know if it's completely worth it, as there's not enough for me to see a difference.

WOULD I BUY THIS PRODUCT? I don't believe so. Looking it up today I found that they suggest adding a few drops (it really is like an essential oil) to your shampoo (well, their shampoo). So I think I'm going to try that out with most of what's left of mine and see if I can notice a difference. I think that if it's combined with a shampoo it'll make more of a difference. Where it's just me putting some oil on my fingers and running it through the ends of my hair, there's not much going on.

it Cosmetics Bye Buy Under Eye in Neutral Medium (affiliate link)

POSITIVES: Such good coverage!!! If you watch my YouTube video of me opening my Ipsy bag and testing this out, you'll see me put it over a mess of zits I had at the time, and those zits vanished from sight. Getting a random color I was a little worried, but it blends very well to my skin tone. There's honestly no creasing, cracking, and it's honestly like putting paint over your imperfections and making them disappear. And it lasts all day! For someone who doesn't ever get enough sleep and has awful under eye circles, this is fantastic!

NEGATIVES: As I said, it's a little bit like paint (not in texture, just in the way it covers) so sometimes it can make you look a little fake, which I'm never a fan of. I have noticed that if I ever have an itch where this product is, it'll come off under my fingernails when I scratch, which bothers me a lot. Makeup products should stay put.

VALUE: The link above is for the exact 0.11 fl.oz travel size product that I got in my Ipsy bag... and it's $16.35 on Amazon. That's ridiculously expensive for the size! The only perk is that with this product, a little goes a long, long way. I feel like this little bottle will last me a long time, so it's definitely worth the value of receiving it in my Ipsy bag. The full size product is 0.28 fl.oz and $24 on It Cosmetic's website. They do have more products like this in different forms as well, but still expensive.

WOULD I BUY THIS PRODUCT? No. Only because of the price. If I'm ever rich, I am all for it, but as much as I like this product, it is in no way worth the cost to me.

Sunday Scrapbook [Feb. 21st - 27th, 2016]

Hello friends! Today I am started a new segment on my blog that will hopefully help me keep up with blogging. Part of the reason I started this blog was to document my life and I feel like that portion has disappeared. So I've decided every Sunday to do a quick recap of my week with pictures. Kind of like a scrapbook, but without all the prettiness. Let me warn you now, I don't do anything with my life. Most the pictures and videos I'll post are me playing with filters on Snapchat (cowgirlkaylee22), but regardless documenting my life is important to me which is why this is happening. I hope you enjoy it and if you do something similar to this on your blog let me know, I'd love to see more examples of ways to make this better and make it my own.

Sunday February 21st:

Umm.... I'm pretty sure I did nothing today. Yeah. Nothing. But I did blog! You can find the post called Becoming A Warrior HERE. It's a personal favorite and was pretty popular on my Twitter. I'm so Twitter famous *wink wink. I also got an email through this blog which means something exciting is happening soon!!! ...it's a giveaway. I couldn't wait to spill the secret. Start liking my social media pages now to get more entries into the giveaway! I'm not sure exactly when it'll happen, but soon.

Monday February 22nd:

I did way too much shopping today. Ross, American Eagle, and Cotton On. I will be doing a haul video soon so you can see all my purchases! Also, I replaced Chris with my bear Oso:

Tuesday February 23rd:

Today was apparently National Toast Day. (How would we ever know about these obscure holidays without social media? Thanks Twitter for the heads-up.) So I posted this photo on Twitter in honor of the holiday:

And I'll be honest, I was really upset that no one liked my Tweet. Does no one care about Nacho Libre? Sure you may not be able to quote it as easily or often as my husband, but doesn't it still just make you laugh? It's Jack Black for crying out loud!!

Wednesday February 24th:

So last night I slept with my hair in braids so I would have wavy hair and, yeah, it was insane.

(Sorry for the blurry picture) This picture is even tame compared to the way it looked right after I took the braids out. It's been a long time since I've done this with my hair and considering how annoying it was I'm pretty sure I remember why I stopped. Although this kid at my work said it looked nice.

Also, I need to get my ombre fixed. In pictures it always looks like I'm in weird lighting so the top is randomly dark. I want to go back to my cousin since she originally did my color, but she lives to far away it's hard to justify a long drive just for a hair dye. So if you live in Cache Valley and want to do my hair for cheap you should let me know.

So last Saturday Zoram started his puppy training classes, which he embarrassed us in. But we got some pointers on leash walking, which previously Zoram would have nothing to do with. This week he picked it up quickly. Honestly, Sunday Chris was dragging Zoram around on the leash and today:

He's a little professional. We spent our lunch break walking him around the block. It's a short walk, but he's doing fantastic and he loves it.

Thursday February 25th:

Work is hard. Being an adult is hard. And when you're tired, nauseous, and have a headache, there's no better day to wear your hair in pigtails and pretend you have a weird mustache.

Friday February 26th:

Today I built a metal shelf thing I bought at K-Mart's closing sale that goes above the toilet. But it's slightly lopsided and I couldn't get one of the shelves to fit. I'm upset.

Then I went into Chris's work with Zoram and let him wander the aisles. Whenever Zoram saw his reflection in a refrigerator or oven he would freak out and it was pretty funny. I'm pretty sure he technically shouldn't be wandering Sears, but I'm grateful that Chris's boss hasn't said anything about it.

When we got back home I was making Chris watch My Fair Lady with me, but he fell asleep before "The Rain in Spain" which is lame. I stopped it at intermission anyways because it was already midnight. I grew up with musicals, I love musicals, and I love introducing them to Chris even though he's never a big fan. Except with Phantom of the Opera, because let's be honest that movie was incredible and the music is just so dang good!! Anyways, here's a Spotify playlist of my favorite musicals, it's fun to put on shuffle and great to sing along to.

Saturday February 27th:

Today I woke up at like 11, because Saturdays are my sleep in days, then immediately took Zoram on a long walk, then spent forever getting ready while watching 13 Going on 30, then took Zoram on another walk to PetSmart for his class. Zoram was great in his class today because it was on loose leash walking... which we walked to the class so he didn't need too much extra help. I don't think he is going to have his bad reputation in class anymore! Yay!

Style Icon: Zooey Deschanel/Jessica Day

Chris and I love New Girl. Like, a lot. We've seen each episode on Netflix multiple times and we still laugh every time. It's honestly one of the best shows. But as funny as it is, one of my favorite things about it is the dresses and other outfits Zooey Deschanel wears as Jessica Day.

Today's #FashionFriday post is not of me, but a combination of my favorite Zooey/Jess outfits, although their style is basically the same.

I love this style because it's very girly and fun. Having a job wear I get to wear a dress everyday has been ridiculously fun for me and I've realized how much I prefer wearing dresses to other clothes. Zooey's style is not only cute and girly, but it's also very casual and comfortable looking, which is always a plus. In New Girl she wears big glasses and anyone who knows me well knows that I'm obsessed with glasses, so I want them. I'm also in love with her hair. I've been considering getting bangs like hers, but I really can't decide. If you have an opinion on whether I should get bangs or not please leave a comment below, because I'm very conflicted on this decision.

It only seems fitting that with this post I introduce you to one of my favorite websites: What Would Zooey Deschanel Wear? Not only does it show you a collection of her outfits, it has links on where to get them or similar items! It's amazing to look at and makes me wish I had more money. So check it out because it's pretty much the greatest thing ever.

So anyways, please enjoy a collection of some of my favorite Zooey/Jess outfits. Have a lovely day and if you're participating in Fashion Friday, be sure to use the hashtag on social media so I can see all your styles!

Seriously though, could I pull off bangs like this?

A Green and Rainy May

I don't mean to sound vain, but I completely love these pictures this week. And it's not vain because I'm mostly obsessed with the picture quality and how beautifully green everything has become. We've been getting a ton of rain, for which I am truly grateful for. I'm in love with rain and it's made everything so green and I just love it!

I know this dress was included in a different post fairly recently (also from a rainy day) but it's honestly one of my favorite dresses at the moment and this is styled differently, much more for spring/summer than for winter like the last time. So I think it's completely reasonable to have it again.

Also my hair was working quite nicely that day so I approve of this post very much. I've been obsessed with curling my hair this way and you can find out how I did it HERE.

I also told Chris (my hubby/photographer) to take more close up shots of my hair. We're working on getting him better at specific shots of the different elements of the outfit and for this post we focused on my hair. While I may have a lot of "fashion" posts, I do still feel very new at this so we're working out what looks best. Thanks for liking what I do regardless. As always, you are the greatest.

Elephants

I don't know what color my hair is trying to be lately. I dyed it a short while ago and it was supposed to be black, but my hair always wants to be red. So I'm considering actually dying it red. Like THIS kind of red, or THIS. Or perhaps more of a red highlight like THIS. Or you know, trying dying it black again like THIS. Too many options!! I love playing with my hair though! Lately I've been trying out different hairstyles. Mainly braids. I've been having fun with it and once I get better I'll do tutorials on my YouTube page (PS, I have one hair tutorial up already on how I curl my hair, check it out HERE). But I also have been letting my hair stay more natural lately instead of abusing it with heat, so below is mostly my natural hair, just a little tweaking with my straightener in a few places.

Anyways, I'm in love with this outfit because it's simple. It has a lot of different pieces that makes it look a bit fancier, but it's so comfy and cute. My necklace isn't very visible in these pictures, but I won it from my friend at Styled By Blondie! I'm in love with it and have had fun putting it with different outfits. My latest obsession has been necklaces and I wear them all the time. I want more though....

Well I hope you enjoy this outfit, because I sure do. And I hope you have a fabulous day!

Style Icon: Demi Lovato

From the very beginning of this blog I have talked about my love of Demi Lovato. She is such a role model to me and I honestly love her so much. She is such an inspiration to me as a person, but she's also a style icon for me as well.

In high school I wanted her hair and throughout high school and my first few years of college, I had my hair specifically dyed to look similar to hers. And while now I don't have the desire to have her current hair (shaved side, crazy colors), a part of me will always want the way her hair once was (not that her current hair isn't awesome too, she totally rocks it, it's just not for me). But I've always loved her style as well. From her days on Sonny With a Chance and Camp Rock to now, I still love her style.

Demi always has a bit of a rocker in her. She'll wear a skirt with a leather jacket, or "Converse with my dress" and I love that! She also wears black as much as I do. Black is my favorite color. Dressing down or dressing up, she knows how to pair different items together and make it work. Her hair and makeup is always flawless, but she's also a huge promoter of #MakeupFreeMonday and often posts a makeup free photo on Instagram once a week. Through everything she's been though, she's all about having a positive self-image and uses herself as an example as much as she can. She loves her curves, different hair colors, and her freckles and isn't afraid to share them.

Demi Lovato has such a wide, but wonderful style and she always has and always will be one of my style icons, and most favorite celebrities in existence. And now, like always, here's a million pictures of her.

I think her makeup is gorgeous in this.

I'm always tempted to dye my hair red like this, but maybe a bit darker...

Ah! Her hair and makeup is incredible!

I've been joining in on #MakeupFreeMonday lately, and you should too!

Also, if you've made it this far, CONGRATS! But I want to apologize for my lack of fashion posts. I'm trying to get into the habit again of taking pictures every night. So hopefully I'll have some soon!
