Daycation in Pineview, Utah

Last Friday Chris and I spent most our time at Pineview Reservoir. We swam, ate wonderful food, and did a lot of searching for Pokemon. I forgot to take pictures the second day we were there, with  jet ski and paddle boards, but here are the pictures I did take from our "daycation."

Feeding America [May 2016 COTM]

Hey friends! I wasn't planning on doing a Charity of the Month this month (I've been having a few issues so it hasn't been around for a while), however it didn't feel right to not highlight anything. So today I wanted to help you find your local food bank.

If you go to the Feeding America website, on the front page you'll find an orange line which reads "Find Your Local Food Bank" and you can just insert your zip code in there and see what's around you.

One of the saddest things in the world, in my opinion, is that there are people out there who can't always eat food. I feel heartbroken every time I see food go to waste. And just ask my husband, I clean my plate every time I eat in an unconscious effort to never waste food.

So when you find your local food bank, I encourage you to follow their donations rules and help out any way you can. I know it's hard to think you can make a difference, but if we all pitch in we can make a dent in the problem and bring someone happiness.

June Obsessions

Typically I do Monthly Favorites posts but since I'm struggling with blogging lately I'm keeping this incredible short. However I may change it so all my Monthly Favorites are like this, more of a list rather than a lengthy explanation for things. Anyways here are my latest obsessions:

-Cinema Sins
-YouTube in general
-Wholly Guacamole
-Bejeweled Blitz (you guys, it's a literal addiction)
-Pokemon
-Not being sick, because currently I am
-Really Don't Care by Demi Lovato
-Demi Lovato in general
-I finished the Divergent series and I can't decide what to say about it... but I want to see the move again
-Catching Fire, just want to see it again!!!
-Taking baths or showers in the middle of the day
-Doing nothing the rest of the day
-Writing in my book
-Family Guy, sigh, I have a problem
-Lying out by my apartment pool
-Eating dried fruits
-Target
-Putting my hair in a bun... every day.
-Bumblebee from Transformers (honestly I have a crush on him, it's totally not weird...)
-But not the new Transformers movie
-Texas thunderstorms (seriously, they are awesome and frequent)
-Getting too excited for the Forth of July even though I have to work (See below)
-Getting even more excited my family is coming to visit me in Texas!!!!
-Chris and I are now primary workers?
-Making money (which sounds petty but honestly we were really struggling before this)
-Sunshine and summertime!!
-Working on my beach body... and failing and eating donuts
-CHOCOLATE!!!

*About working on the Forth of July: I think it's wrong for things to be open on our Independence Day. We close everything for Christmas but we can't do it for the Forth of July? Jesus's birthday, yes, that's totally understandable. But America's birthday, where we gained independence to become a wonderful country that gives us so many opportunities... who cares leave everything open, make it seem like a normal day that isn't actually important in any way. I think everything should be closed on Independence Day, except of course the necessities. Just have fairs and celebrations, make it one big party!! Exploiting Independence Day for sales is awful. I know I'm being kind of weird but I just generally hate the fact that America doesn't respect itself enough to make Independence Day more important. It seems to me like it should be much more important.

10 Weird Things About Me

I have been getting some new followers and decided to reintroduce myself to all the new followers... in a weird way. Here is a random post about 10 Weird Things About Me.

The majority of these photos are from my "Fashion" posts. You can find all those posts by CLICKING HERE

1. I always eat crusts first.
This is true with pie, pizza, sandwiches, etc. For me, the crust is the worst part so I'd rather just get it over with. Although occasionally I just won't eat the crust at all. It depends on my mood.

2. I've never gone boating.
This may not sound weird to most of you, but when I was in high school if I ever let it slip that I've never been boating everyone would freak out! This is partially because many of my classmate's families had boats, but mine didn't so we never went. I've been in a canoe and been white water rafting, but that's basically the extent of me and boats. Honestly, boats kind of scare me though because when I see a cruise ship I cannot fathom how that thing can be floating and it freaks me out!

3. I hate skiing.
Again, this may not seem weird to you, but growing up in Utah, it's weird if you never ski or snowboard. And I never do. I first tried skiing when I was little and vowed NEVER AGAIN but this year I tried snowboarding and it was alright. But yeah, I hate skiing.

4. I hate gum.
I can't even fully explain my hatred of gum. The smell makes me nauseous, chewing it makes me gag, and I'm one of those "lucky" people who tends to step on gum a lot. I'm also a janitor who occasionally (but rarely because I try to get someone else to do it) has to scrape gum off the carpet. They really shouldn't have me clean up the gum though because it makes me want to throw up and that could potentially just make a bigger mess. I hate gum so much that I don't like being around people who chew it (my poor mother who is addicted...) Somehow, unintentionally, I got my husband (boyfriend at the time) to stop chewing gum around me, and he very rarely chews gum at all now. But when he sneaks one I can always smell it and it makes me sick.

5. I can't sleep without socks on.
Pretty much everyone I know has to have their socks off in order to sleep, but I'm the opposite. I need my socks on. I love the warmth! But I also just have a sock addiction, because I can't even walk around barefoot in my own home, I need my socks! My husband always teases me for it and thinks it's a miracle when I don't have socks on, because it kind of is. It's not that I'm insecure about my feet, I just like the warmth and comfort of socks all the time.

6. I'm more comfortable having strangers read this blog than people I know.
I didn't really tell anyone about my blog for over six months. Something about knowing my friends and family are reading my blog freaks me out! I think I feel they will judge me for some of the things I write, and if a stranger reads my blog and judges me, who cares? They don't know me. But if someone I know is reading my blog it honestly freaks me out. Sorry friends and family! It's nothing personal I swear!

7. I say I hate cheese but eat it all the time.
One of my most favorite foods in the world is nachos and I love putting cheese on things, but whenever someone talks about cheese or asks me about cheese I'm like "Ew, gross!" And I honestly don't know why!!  I do the same with Goldfish, I always say I hate them, but I eat them and they are cheese so it's totally relate-able. There is some cheese I don't like, and I'm not a huge fan of eating cheese plain, but I don't know what compels me to say I hate cheese all the time, because I obviously don't hate it.

8. I was born a snake.
Okay, that's a lie. But that's what my dad likes to say sometimes. Basically I was born a few weeks late and there wasn't enough amniotic fluid left to I came out incredibly dry and, as my dad says, scaly. I don't have any pictures to prove it though and I don't know what it looked like, but it's an exciting story I guess.

9. If my nail polish chips even a little, I peel it all off and start over.
I absolutely cannot handle when my nail polish is chipped, even just a little bit. And I'm kind of obsessive over it too. This is why I don't wear nail polish all that often. But I am a huge fan of Impress Press-On Manicure because it doesn't chip or fall off easily and want to start using those more (You can read my review on Impress HERE).

10. After swimming or a hot-tub, if I don't put lotion on my hands right away I get super irritated.
Whenever I go to a pool I have to take lotion and immediately put it on after I get out. It honestly drives me insane the way my hands get wrinkled and dry and I have to remedy it immediately. You can ask my husband, when we went hot-tubbing and I couldn't get to lotion fast enough I just kept complaining about it and tried to moisten my hands in drinking fountains or by licking them (gross I know). I cannot handle having dry hands, it leads me to insanity.

And there you have it, ten weird things about me. Leave a comment below and share something weird about you!

March Favorites

Welcome to my March Favorites! To read all my other Monthly Favorites post CLICK HERE

FAVORITE BLOG: Me, You, and Hayley Larue

Have you ever met someone and you just click? That's how I feel about Hayley over at "Me, You, and Hayley Larue". (Which is a bold thing to say because I'm not sure if she feels the same way.) She left a comment on my blog so I headed straight over to hers. Not only is her blog beautiful, but she's a great writer, an incredible dancer, and she has a very enchanting blog! Also we both have an uncle that works at Disneyland, we both dance, and our birthdays are one year, one month, and one day apart. I just absolutely love her blog and all her beautiful pictures and quotes. She's amazing and I love finding new friends through blogging!!

FAVORITE WEBSITE: 100happydays.com

As I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is I want to do with my life, I realize that I need to gain my more positive attitude and just be happier! So I found the 100 Happy Days Challenge and knew I had to do it. With the stress of school and moving to a new state, I felt now was the best time! My 100 days ends in the middle of June and hopefully by then I will have gained a more positive outlook on life. If you haven't already, I urge you to take the challenge as well and spend the next 100 days finding what makes you happy in your life. Follow me on Instagram to see all my #100happydays posts!

FAVORITE WEB VIDEO: Bitman Begins

Do you remember that Youtube video "Charlie Bit My Finger"? Well this is the celebrity version from Jimmy Kimmel, and I absolutely love it! They really should get the Hemsworth brothers together for a movie. That would be entertaining to watch...

FAVORITE SNACK: Brookside Dark Chocolate Goji and Raspberry Flavors

This little treat is beyond delicious! Not only that but it's not incredibly unhealthy either! Well it is if you eat as many as I do, but I don't feel quite as guilty eating this as I do with other chocolaty treats. They have different flavors like blueberry and pomegranate but I like the raspberry best.

FAVORITE SONG: Say Something

This is quite honestly the most beautiful song ever. I'm so incredibly in love with it, especially this version of it. In case you didn't know, I want to someday be an author and as I'm working on my book this song and this version just keeps playing in my head. I'm so in love with it!

FAVORITE TELEVISION SHOW: How I Met Your Mother

Every now and then Chris and I re-watch our favorite shows on Netflix. This month we went through How I Met Your Mother again. It's a special show for us because when we were first dating it helped us connect together as we watched it together for the first time. I love this show... but I am so insanely disappointed in the current season. It's such a let-down and the worst final season ever. But I was so happy to finally see Barney and Robin get married and I'm super excited for Ted to meet the mother!!!

FAVORITE MOVIE: While You Were Sleeping

I didn't go out and see any movies this month and we actually didn't watch very many at all, but I did introduce my husband to While You Were Sleeping so I'm counting it as my favorite this month. It's an older one but Sandra Bullock is super cute in it (and basically all the time, she's a favorite of mine) and it's just a cute and funny movie. So if you haven't seen it already, you should check it out!

FAVORITE APP: QuizUp

My husband and I are so in love with this app and we just quiz each other all the time! It's so fun being in this never-ending competition with him to see who knows our favorite things best! If you don't already have it, you should definitely download this app because it's super fun and you can play against me!!!

FAVORITE/MOST POPULAR BLOG POST: What I've Learned From 10 Months of Marriage

Compared to my other "What I've Learned from ___ Months of Marriage" posts, this one wasn't that exciting to me. It was short and thrown together at the last minute. But I'm glad people like it. It makes me happy that my marriage is exciting to other people. My one year anniversary is in May and I have some big marriage posts planned for that month, so don't forget to follow my blog so you won't miss out on any of them!

Also this month, for some strange reason, you guys keep looking at my One Month Till My Wedding post, which is kind of funny to me. Next month is one month to my one year anniversary, so maybe that's why.

This Monthly Favorites post is a bit shorter than others, but it was a very interest month for me. Drop by my blog tomorrow to see my Monthly Review of March!

Well that's it I guess. I hope you all do something fun for St. Patrick's Day!

February Favorites

I very last minute decided to do a Monthly Favorites post for this month so it is very haphazardly thrown together and it's kind of short. But it's been a while since I did one and I've been wanting to start doing it again so why not now?

FAVORITE BLOG: A+ Life

I don't remember how I found this blog this month but I started reading and knew I would always, always, always keep reading. There are very few blogs out there that are so beautifully well written that you can't stop reading and this blog is becoming an inspiration for my own. I want my readers to never stop reading. It's a work in progress though.

FAVORITE SNACK: Brach's Conversation Hearts

And it has to be this brand and look like this. And preferable it's the larger size. Brach's hearts are so much softer than other brands that for me, who has this fear of biting into hard things, I can enjoy them like a normal person. I ate two bags of the large ones and one bag of the small ones. Good thing they only come around once a year!

FAVORITE TELEVISION SHOW: New Girl

I had seen a few episodes before, but this month I found three seasons on Netflix and have been majorly binge-watching!!! I'm obsessed. This show is so funny and great and it just makes me so happy! And yay for me for having a husband who tolerates me watching it all the time.

FAVORITE MOVIE: The Lego Movie

My husband and I have seen it twice and we're obsessed. It's so funny and happy and we just love it so much!! (Random Tangent: I was editing a paper and it was really bothering me that she said "and" multiple times in a sentence, but as I'm writing this I realize I do it too sometimes, but never in a school paper, but am I still a bad person for doing it?) Go see The Lego Movie!!!

FAVORITE/ MOST POPULAR BLOG POST: I Hate College

FYI, this category is not determined by me. I base it on which post that I've written this month has had the most page views, and I Hate College is the winner. This post now has a follow-up post FOUND HERE. This post was written in anger but it's sadly incredibly truthful. Again, I haven't made a final decision yet, I do still appreciate your comments and suggestions, they are very helpful and I am super grateful.

My I'm Moving to Texas post was a close second and worth mentioning because some people still don't know about this drastic change in my life that I keep waking up having nightmares about moving. Since our move less that three months ago was kind of a disaster with packing up our stuff, I'm so stressed about a more serious move like this.

FAVORITE EVENT: My St. George Trip

It was so incredibly fun to leave the cold and go to St. George. I seriously love St. George and always wanted to live down there. I loved being able to swim and to explore and to eat good food! It was so great celebrating my AMAZING husband's birthday and it was just a fantastic trip!

Tonight we're seeing Brian Reagan! But I don't think that will top the St. George trip... we'll see...

What were your favorite things this month? Leave a comment and let me know! Visit my blog later today for my February Review!

My Trip to St. George

For this post I'm starting at the very beginning, which means Valentine's Day morning. It all began with me waking up and getting ready like it was a normal day, because at the time it was. I've never been a fan of Valentine's Day so the fact that it was February 14th didn't faze me (except that I was happy for my parents because it's their anniversary).

When my husband woke up he hurried and got ready and we decided to head to Kneaders for French Toast. I was super excited because I've been wanting Kneaders French toast since forever but things always come up and we could never get there in time for breakfast. But this time we did and it was delicious!!

P.S. All the pictures were taken with my new phone and are shaped weird, but they honestly turn out better than if I take them with my camera.

Then I had class to get to and Chris went off to go find my Valentine's Day gifts, which included beautiful earrings, chocolate covered strawberries and a super cute card! It was simple, but honestly, we both knew we were going to St. George and we're trying to save up our money so it was perfect.

After class Chris went and got his new driver's license because he's 25 and old now. Then we ate at Carl's Jr. and started driving through the snowy canyon to my in-law's house.

Ugh! Worst picture ever! And why is it a different size? I don't get it!

Once at my in-laws, we transferred all our stuff to their car and we took of for St. George!! I was super excited to get away from the stress of school and just relax! On the way there we stopped at a gas station/petting zoo where I found a souvenir with my name spelled right!!! It's honestly a rare occurrence.

We arrived in St. George late that night and we visited Chris's Grandma Joyce before heading to our hotel (which was beautiful and amazing). We fell asleep soon after in the most amazing bed and now I really want pillows like that...

The next day was MY HUSBAND'S BIRTHDAY!!!! We woke up, ate pancakes and bacon and went off to the soccer tournament! My father-in-law coaches a team of twelve-year-olds that were playing in the tournament. While there, I ran into my best friend! Her dad is a soccer ref and he was down there for the tournament and I got to talk with my best friend Lauren and her mom, which was so wonderful! I miss them so much! They are seriously like a second family to me.

After soccer we went bowling! And I sucked!! I seriously don't think I've ever done that badly before! However I think I know why. Friday in class we learned about Social Anxiety Disorder and they gave us a mini-test to see if we had it and... yeah... there's a very great chance I have it. And looking back on my life I realize just how much I really do probably have this. I don't know what it means for my future, but I suppose it's a good thing I finally figured it out. Anyways, while bowling I feel incredibly anxious and stressed because I don't like being put in the spotlight, so when I go up and bowl and they all either cheer for me or say "oh, that's alright", I get this tension throughout my body because I don't want to be the center of attention. It's always happened, but I never knew it was a part of Social Anxiety Disorder. When I'm bowling with just Chris, I don't feel that pressure because I'm so in love with him and everything is comfortable and different around him, but apparently when I'm with other people I suck at bowling.

Web Video Wednesday: Valentine's Day

I found this video and thought it was super cute and the girl was super cute and I thought, "Hey, it's been a long time since I've done a Web Video Wednesday post, I might as well share this one." So here you go. Some more stuff you can do to celebrate Valentines Day with your loved one... or with yourself. I'm not judging. ENJOY!

Also I wanted to share another video that I found enjoyable, mainly for the number one spot. And it relates to my post tomorrow.

Pinterest Sunday: DIY, Foods, Neon, Cruel, Disney, Pink, Pinwheel, Roadtrip, Scriptures, Disney Parks, and Phoebe

This week I've pinned a ridiculous amount of clothing/fashion pins because I just want to shop and I'm so sick of my current wardrobe.... but I am going to save most of those pins for a Fashion Friday post this week. So stay tuned for all of those and I hope you enjoy this Pinterest Sunday post!

As one of his Christmas presents, I promised my husband I would make a board/frame thing for the pictures of fish he catches. I had a pretty good idea in mind but then I saw this and knew I have to do this! But I could use like fishing wire and hooks! It'll be great! Stay tuned for a tutorial and video on it when I finally get around to making it.

New Year, new me. I'm trying to lose one pound a week up  until my one year anniversary, because then I'll be at my wedding weight (yes I strayed that far off in the last 8 months). So I'm always looking for healthy foods and ways to lose weight.

P.S. -I am already behind. I got sick so I didn't go to the gym at all last week and we still have tons of left over candy from Christmas (I have a theory that Santa gives us all so much candy so he doesn't feel as overweight himself) but this week I'll be starting a new routine (even though I still feel sick) and I'll be writing about it on here soon.

Sunday Meals: Chicken Curry FAILURE

Martha Stewart recently said:
“Oh – oh I DO have a minor gripe about that too. Because WHO are these bloggers? They’re not trained editors at Vogue magazine! I mean there are bloggers writing recipes that aren’t tested that aren’t necessarily very good, or are copies of everything that really good editors have created and done. So, bloggers create a kind of um, a, um, popularity but, they are NOT the experts! And we have to understand that.”
And my favorite blogger from Grasping for Objectivity said that she was right. We bloggers are not experts, we make mistakes, we aren't perfect, but in a way, that makes us a more reliable source. The recipes seen in magazines have been tried and practiced again and again to perfection until decidedly perfect. You never see the mistakes that they make, everything is edited to look perfectly.

Because I'm just a blogger, I make mistakes. And I'm happy to share my mistakes and failures with my readers, because you deserve to see that I'm not perfect and that I make mistakes too.

So I occasionally, but rarely, write these posts about my Sunday meals. Sunday is typically the only day of the week that I can really try to cook something. I work 5-9 every night and am a full-time college student, so Sunday is the day I attempt to cook... attempt being the key word.

I've never loved cooking. I like making cookies sometimes but I'm more motivated to make cookies because I love to eat them. I am never motivated to cook a meal. My husband, quite honestly, is a better cook than I am and is more willing to cook as well. So I only attempt to cook. But I am very skilled in following recipes.

My husband and I are very poor and don't have very much food lying around the house, especially since we're moving this week. So this past Sunday I tried to create a meal from what we do have. I had a can of chicken, rice, and curry powder. We have made curry before with basically the same ingredients so I was pretty sure it would work.

I started out by cooking our minute rice (which I am an expert and making and often just have a bowl of rice for a meal) and by putting the can of chicken in a frying pan and heating it up. Yes I know I could just eat the chicken out of the can, but I wanted it warm. Everything was going good and was looking really well.

The rice was almost done so I started adding the curry powder to the chicken. I added some extra water to make it blend together better. I knew milk would work better, but we didn't have milk, just water. My husband came over to see what smelled so good (because he loves curry). I gave him free reign to add more curry powder, which he happily did.

Everything was looking good and we started putting everything into our bowls. It smelled delicious and I was feeling proud of myself. We prayed and blessed the food then sat down to eat. I took my first bite...

Too. Much. Curry! And the chicken wasn't that great either! The rice was good, because I'm an expert at that. I took a few more bites and decided I couldn't eat anymore. So I took out all the chicken and just ate the rice with some of the curry powder still there, that was super delicious.

My husband ate his whole bowl and told me he really liked it, but I hated it! So I suppose it's not exactly a failure. If I had used a real chicken breast instead of canned chicken that would have helped it. For me personally, there was too much curry powder and it was just powder, I like more of a curry paste, so that would need to be changed. Vegetables would have been a good addition as well.

Over all I do think that I could fix up this recipe to make it work, and that alone is hope for me. I know I'm not the best cook, but I'm trying to improve that and consider this a lesson learned. I always believe that we learn from our mistakes, and I'm happy knowing that I can improve this recipe.

Do you have a recipe failure? Leave a comment below and let me know!

FAVORITE WEBSITE: 24 HOURS OF HAPPY

This song and this 24 hour video are just so incredible! It honestly just makes me happy to listen to this song and it's been great with all the stress I've been going through lately.

FAVORITE FOOD: WILD RICE MINNESOTA SOUP

At my brother-in-law's homecoming talk luncheon, we had this soup that was so incredible!! It was some of the best soup of my life and I have soup a lot, so I should be an expert by now. My mother in law gave me the recipe so I will eventually put it up here and share my experience making it, but we're dealing with a move and finals right now so it won't happen for a while. Sorry!

FAVORITE TELEVISION SHOW: COMMUNITY

Every night on TV Chris and I watch two episodes of this show from 11:00 to midnight. It's so funny and it's just a great show to watch. :)

FAVORITE MOVIE: CATCHING FIRE

NOTE: I feel the following video gives away stuff that the other ones don't, so just beware. :)

Okay. OKAY!!! This movie... I saw it Thanksgiving night... SO IN LOVE!!! And the more I think about it, the more I love it. And dare I say it, I think I might like the movie better than I did the book. This movie was done so incredibly well and I came out of the theater jumping around and wanting more, it's been a long time since a movie has done so much for me. I HIGHLY recommend you go see it, as long as you've seen the first one beforehand. WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!

FAVORITE SONG: HUMAN

This song is absolute perfection! I honestly have no words, it's just amazing and everyone should listen to it and realize just how incredible Christina Perri is. She's so wonderful!
