2016 Theme Songs

Last year I posted about my 2015 Theme Song. Now I've always thought of a theme song for the year, but last year was the first time I posted it on my blog. But I truly loved it and I think you did too (that probably a lie) so I'm sharing it with you again.

This year I have two, but one is for me and the other is specifically for this blog. So here they are, my 2016 theme songs!

Let's start with the one specifically for this blog.

CHANGE BY CARRIE UNDERWOOD

I believe I mentioned that I am bringing back Charity of the Month in 2016. This has always been something I wanted but it's hard because being completely broke myself I don't feel like I'm doing anything.

Starting this year it's going to be a little different though. I will have one main charity featured a month that will be highlighted on the side of my blog. However, the last time I did Charity of the Month I actually got emails asking if their charity could be featured, so I'm going to have an ongoing list of charities that you suggest and care about. And if you do have a charity, you are more than welcome to contact me about writing a guest post on my blog all about your charity.

I know that my personal income can't make much of a difference, but if we all group together I truly believe we can make a change for the better. That is why Carrie Underwood's brilliant song is the theme song for The Dancing Cow this year as we make Charity of the Month stronger.

TOMORROW NEVER COMES BY ZAC BROWN BAND

About two months ago I had my miscarriage and when I went back to work it was... just the worst. That first week I came back I would often leave my desk to cry in the bathroom or simply just cry at my desk. I was a wreck. So one of those days I began to cry, thinking about the baby I had lost, and this song came on. I don't know how or why but I immediately stopped crying and really listened to it, taking in the words.

This is my personal theme song for this year. Things happen that can make or break us, but as long as we live each day to the fullest then we'll be able to make it through. This year is about getting things done. No more procrastinating, no more laziness, no more waiting for the right time, NOW is the right time.

I'm not going to put things off anymore. I can be happy now and I need to stop waiting for it to happen. I made a goal years ago that I would do things that make me happy, but I keep putting things off because it doesn't feel like the right time. "I'M GONNA LIVE MY LIFE LIKE TOMORROW NEVER COMES" I can be happy, I can be successful, I can be who I want to be right now and I need to stop putting it off.

Last year was so hard for me. Depression hit me hard all year long and then my miscarriage nearly killed me. But I have high hopes for this year. When we are at our lowest, there's no place left but up. This year is going to be amazing for both me and my blog and I hope you stick around to see it all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Slow Down

Life, I need to talk to you

Can you spare a minute just to tell me what to do?

And I'm trying to climb this hill
I can feel you pass me by like I'm standing still

The things I gotta do
I'm feeling you leaving me behind
And I know I don't wanna go down this road alone
And I'm running out of time

So slow down, you're losing me
And I can't see what you want me to be
So slow down 'cause all I know is I can't go
As fast as you have got me spinning round
I'm barely hanging on, slow down

Why the moments pass me by?
Memories that I can't keep as hard as I may try
Oh life, you're so beautiful
I wish it wasn't so but I can only stay until

Though you say I gotta go
God only knows when that's gonna be
With all my might I'm trying to keep up with you
And now you're running away from me

So slow down, you're losing me
And I can't see what you want me to be
So slow down 'cause all I know is I can't go
As fast as you have got me spinning round
I'm barely hanging on, slow down

So slow down, you're losing me
And I can't see what you want me to be
So slow down 'cause all I know is I can't go
As fast as you have got me spinning round
Oh, look at how you got me spinning around
I'm barely hanging on, slow down

This post was previously ridiculously long. I wrote for a very long time about my stress and my depression, but I deleted it all. Because once I wrote it down, once I let it all out, I felt better.

The song above has been in my mind a lot lately because I've been dealing with a lot. There is so much stress in my life and things have been really hard. I just want my life to slow down. I want a break. I want a minute where I don't have to feel like this. I want to feel like myself again...

Song of the Week: Wasting All These Tears

I really like this girl and I really like this song. It's been stuck in my head for a while so I figured it would be a great song to make the Song of the Week! I don't have anything else to say on the matter.

Welcome to March everyone! I hope this month goes better for me, this year has been weird so far...

Song of the Week: She's Everything

It's February. The month of Valentines Day and my husband's birthday. So what better way to celebrate than by doing love songs for the month of February! And I can't think love songs without thinking about Brad Paisley. This song is adorable and I love it so much!

This is my 500th blog post! Yay me! In only a year and a half, I clearly write too much.
THANKS FOR READING!!!

Song of the Week: Everybody's Got Somebody But Me

When we first heard this song, my husband and I had a disagreement. He was positive that Jason Mraz sang it and I was sure it was Hunter Hays, we didn't find out until later that we were both right. And we both love this song so very much! It just puts me in a good mood and makes me smile, even though I suppose it's a sad song... Anyways, I hope you enjoy the song of the week!

Song of The Week: Compass

I'm so in love with this song! I used to be a huge Lady Antebellum fan and I have their autographs and I've been to two of their concerts in Utah (my mom and sister have been to ALL their concerts in Utah). But my love for them sort of faded away as their popularity grew, which seems opposite, but it happened. But this song is bringing back my love for them. This song is so fantastic and I love it!

Things I've Learned From Being Married for Four Months

Yay! Happy four month anniversary to my husband and I!! It's been 1/3 of a year, so that's cool. Even though it's not a huge amount of time, there is still a lot to have learned since we first got married. I wrote a post before at the three week mark, you can find that HERE.

1. Men Don't Change

I grew up listening to this song:

(which is why "Chocolate is a band-aid" is one of my favorite quotes) So it was ingrained in my brain that "men don't change". But after dating Chris for a year and a half I though he was different. I mean, I had gotten him to stop chewing gum around me (that's kind of a different story) so I figured I could get him to change some other things as well, if needed. I'm not saying he has to change. I married him, I love him to death, but there's a few little things that could be tweaked a bit.

But it's true, "men don't change". But I don't care anymore. Why should I expect him to change things when I won't change my own ways? I talked about this in my church talk and I truly believe it, if you trust in your spouse, you can avoid all contention in marriage.

2. We Use a Lot of Dishes

There's two of us. We eat out more than we should. I tend to eat meals that don't use utensils. How on earth do we go through dishes so fast??? It's one of those mysteries I may never understand.

3. Cleaning is Hard

I'm a custodian, so I spend Monday through Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 cleaning in the student center on campus. This include vacuuming offices, taking out giant trash bags, and cleaning four bathrooms. So I have a hard time finding the energy and drive to clean my apartment. I hate the mess, but I am so sick of cleaning! And I get paid to clean at my job, at home I get to clean, then make a bigger mess, then clean again, and repeat again and again until I die.

So to help me us keep our home clean, I've made a list of the main things that need to be done this week (ie. cleaning the toilet, mopping the tile, vacuuming the living room) and during the week when we aren't in class or working, we can just take a little bit of time and finish one small thing on the list and then eventually all the work can get done! We're just starting it this week so I don't know how well it'll work, but I'll let you know.

4. Life Gets in the Way

Have you ever heard the quote: "Distance makes the heart grow fondest"? (Or the BNL version: "Absence makes the heart grow fungus.") Well after Chris and I spent eight months in a long distance relationship, we would both tell you that's crap. However, the quote does hold a bit of truth.

The first three months of our marriage we were constantly together, and it was fantastic! We loved being able to spend so much time together! Now we're in school and working and our schedules are so crazy that we seem to hardly see each other anymore! And while I miss spending all my time with him, the above quote has a point. It's like that Josh Turner song, "The longer the waiting the sweeter the kiss." (and I highly suggest you click on that link, it's one of my most favorite songs ever) The short times I get to see Chris now, are the sweetest moments and I love them so much. While our long distance relationship was hard, this not seeing each other as often makes things better.
...Does that make sense? That's sounds weird and wrong, like I'm saying I don't want to see my husband or something, but I do. I love him and would love to spend all my time with him, but life gets in the way, and we just have to accept that and make it work. And we make it work and we make our love grow even stronger in spite of it all.

5. Love Never Stops Growing

You can't talk about love without throwing a Brad Paisley song in there. Chris and I met almost two years ago. After a month of dating, we both knew we wanted to marry each other. We loved each other then and we still do, but it's so much stronger. Love never stops growing, and I love that so much! I'm so grateful to have such a strong love and to have it always keep growing! Cue another Brad Paisley song:

Song of the Week: Downtown by Lady Antebellum

This song has been stuck in my head all week. I don't get it because it's probably my least favorite Lady Antebellum song. But don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of theirs! I've seen them twice in concert and they all signed my Lady Antebellum shirt! This song just isn't my favorite, because they have lots of better ones. Anyways, enjoy!

Song of the Week: See You Again

This song has been stuck in my head all week. This was the first time I saw this music video and it made me tear up a little bit! It's absolutely beautiful! Carrie is flawless! She has the most incredible voice... in the world... I love and admire her so much. I hope you enjoyed this song of the week!

...and as a special treat here's a video to show how cute she is:

2012 Country Music Awards

I wrote in my "About Me" page that I love country music. I grew up only listening to country. When all my friends were listening to Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys, I was listening to Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw. So it's like a tradition in my home to watch the CMA awards (minus my dad and brother) and this year was no exception. So here are my thoughts about the show. And sorry, this may possibly be my longest post to date. And you can follow where I've got my photos and other information here: http://www.eonline.com/news/359527/2012-cma-awards-best-worst-taylor-swift-kennedy-jokes-miranda-blake-winners-more and http://www.eonline.com/photos/6657/2012-cma-awards/230138

So it began with two of my favorites, co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Let's be real, Carrie Underwood is simply fabulous in every way. However I was upset that they poked fun at Taylor Swift. Yes, her new song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is very childish and silly and easy to make fun of, but Taylor Swift has a very special place in my heart. She wrote songs about and for teenage girls while I was a teenage girl. She wrote her songs for me! And so I support her in many ways. Yes her song is silly, it's sort of okay to make fun of it, but please don't make fun of her dating situation. Observe:

Did anyone else notice how much she freaked out at the end there? Taylor Swift is growing up and trying to act more mature (though her latest song doesn't show it...) And I don't blame her for failed relationships, I've been through many failed relationships. Relationships are hard. Don't give up Taylor! You are a huge superstar anyways, who needs a man? ;)

She really is so beautiful. I loved her dress for these award. She looks fantastic in red. And whomever introduced her to red lipstick, bravo, it really looks good on her. And while I've never wanted to be a blonde, I've always loved her hair. Did anyone else also notice that Taylor Swift didn't win anything this year? I think that's a first for her. I love her performance. Again, she's stunning in red. And I'm rather fond of that song. I'm hoping to either get her new album Red for my birthday on Sunday or get iTunes gifts cards to buy it. Either way, I want her CD soon.

Again, Carrie Underwood is simply fabulous. I love this dress! If I could get married in this dress, I would. I think that Carrie isn't the best host, but she's beautiful to look at and kept appearing on stage in new fabulous dresses. I went to one of her concerts in Salt Lake and I'm pretty sure her second job is a quick dress change artist. She sang Blown Away which was great, it's a wonderful song, but she sounded a bit flat. However, Carrie Underwood's songs are nearly impossible to sing because her voice is just so incredible, so maybe somedays she has a hard time singing her songs just like everyone else. I was a little sad she didn't win Female Vocalist, but I'll accept Miranda Lambert, I love her too.

Moving on to Miranda Lambert, no, her dress was not quite as stunning. I love the skirt, the top just didn't seem to fit her right. And the neutral color didn't do her any good either. Sorry Miranda! Fun Fact! I have an autograph from Miranda Lambert when she came to the Sandy Amphitheater. Nobody knew who she was and there weren't many people there, but I got to talk with her and get an autograph. So I'm pretty cool. :)

Miranda and her husband Blake Shelton were fabulous tonight! Miranda won Female Vocalist of the Year, Blake won Male Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. And together they won Song of the Year, by writing Over You together about Blake's brother. It was so cute to see them on stage winning that award and it see their bond and their love for each other. Miranda was very emotional and crying, which is adorable considering it was Blake's brother and dad (although she is now in their family, but still, a very cute moment). Both seemed very surprised by their awards and very humble. I loved how Miranda, when accepting her award, talked about all the other nominees and how much she loved them and how she didn't feel she deserved the award. She's just cute sometimes. Blake seemed in shock for winning Entertainer of the Year, but to me it makes sense. The name "Entertainer of the Year" should mean something. Blake is always on The Voice, entertaining, he sang Footloose for the new movie, entertaining, and he release some pretty amazing song, also very entertaining. While I love Keith Urban and would have loved to see him win, Blake really did deserve it.

I love Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. I'm pretty sure they're the cutest couple ever! I loved their duet during the tribute to Willie Nelson. I loved Faith Hill's solo song, she did beautifully. But, two things 1. Did anyone else think her teeth looked weird? I mean this in the best way possible. It only looked like she had braces on. Which is fine! I had braces for 2 years. That's just what it looked like to me, no big deal. But 2. She looked really skinny. Like sickly skinny. And it worried me and my mom because we love her so much! So Faith Hill, I truly hope you're healthy, I hope you are taking care of yourself. You're incredible, I'm kind of jealous of your husband, and I love you!

Tim McGraw, what can I say, you're amazing. Congratulations on winning Musical Event of the Year with Kenny Chesney (even though I'm not a Kenny Chesney fan).

My mom is a huge fan of Little Big Town and I like them a lot as well, but... Pontoon, is probably my least favorite of all their songs. I'm happy for them for getting more recognition and getting on top with this song, but I'm not the biggest fan of it. Congratulations for winning Single of the Year with Pontoon and Vocal Group of the Year! You guys really deserve it. You all looked great on the red carpet and while performing. Karen's dress while performing is my new favorite dress ever. And anyone reading who doesn't really know Little Big Town, please listen to Boondocks. It's a great song.

Hunter Hayes is adorable. He deserved to win New Artist of the Year for sure. However, it really bugs me that his song Wanted is sung "wan-ned". There is a "T" in there. Sorry, I'm a future English teacher.

Eric Church won Album of the Year with Chief, which I personally don't love, but good for him anyways! :)

Even though he wasn't there Toby Keith won Music Video of the Year with Red Solo Cup. A fun little song that proves Taylor Swift isn't the only one writing childish music. :) I do love this song though. It makes me laugh, like most Toby Keith songs do. I love you Toby Keith!!

Mac McAnally won Musician of the Year... maybe I'm just a horrible country music fan, but I actually don't know him... sorry. So I don't have anymore to say. Congratulations though!

How could anyone not love Willie Nelson? I loved the tribute to him featuring Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Mickey Raphael, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and of course Willie Nelson. He won the first ever Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, which is well deserved. :)

Thank you Brad and Carrie for the photo above. :)

Now for some of my favorites from the red carpet:

Kimberly from Little Big Town wore this fabulous dress. I loved it. I thought she looked gorgeous and I realized how much I love her hair up. Her makeup was beautiful and her jewelry simple yet elegant.

Yahoo! voted this dress one of the worst, but I don't mind it too much. I love the matching green shoes and clutch. And I kind of just love Hayden Panettiere. This dress reminds me more of the stuff I see at ballroom competitions, not the red carpet. But I still love her and I like her neutral makeup a lot.

Who doesn't love Reba? I think she always knows how to look fabulous. She's funny, talented and very pretty. I adore her shoes and this bright blue dress looks fabulous on her!

Yahoo! also didn't like this one... Maybe it's just because red and black are my favorite colors, but I think that Kimberly Perry looks fabulous. It's a very simple dress, yes, but it's classy, I love the accent of the red belt and I think she just looks very well put together. Maybe I'm not be best fashion expert though. :)

I love this light blue dress on Kellie Pickler! It's a very beautiful and elegant dress! If anyone doesn't know, she shaved off her pretty blonde hair in honor of her friend diagnosed with cancer, and she still looks fabulous with no hair. I love her. She's so funny. Kellie looked great tonight!

My family loves Lady Antebellum! We've been to all their nearby concerts and gotten their autographs. They all looked fabulous on the red carpet. I love a man in a nice clean suit...

Well that's it for now. Tomorrow I'll give you my least favorites from the red carpet, but for now, it is way past my bedtime. Goodnight!

BLOG THEME SONG!

I am happy to say that I've found this blog's theme song!!! I now present to you Party Til The Cows Come Home by Rachele Lynae.

Awesome, right? Also, does anyone else watch Psych? If not, you should, and if you do, doesn't this girl look like Abigail? I liked her.
