Pink October | Fashion Friday

I had the idea months ago to do all pink Fashion Friday posts during the month of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. However, as October drew closer I realized one rather large flaw to this plan. I don't own any pink. In my closet, I have a pink skirt, a dress with pink flowers, a few pink workout tops, and that's it. Nothing that I wanted to do for a fashion post (though my pink skirt has been featured before).

But in the past few months, my home has become consumed with the color pink all thanks to the two newest additions to my family. So, seeing as I had no pink, I decided to take advantage of my children and the one thing they have that I lack... which is pink.

Besides, isn't it more fun to see "fashion" photos of newborns than of a boring 26-year-old stay at home mom? I sure thought so. But in all reality, fashion posts are going to become more frequent on this blog, and I'm pretty sure once a month I'll feature these little ones instead of myself. I hope that doesn't bother anyone and if it does, I'm sorry but you'll just have to live with it.

Anyways, as mentioned, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While my whole "Charity of the Month" idea continues to fail me, making my readers aware of different charities is still something I feel very strongly about. It is becoming nearly impossible for anyone to avoid being affected by cancer in some way. Whether it's a family member, friend, or even yourself, it's something that continually ruins lives and affects all of us.

I would encourage you to reach out and do what you can for those who have been diagnosed with any sort of cancer. Make a donation. Visit your sick neighbor and bring them a treat. Take toys to a children's hospital. Do whatever you can this month to show that you care. Below are links to two major organizations that bring awareness to cancer. If you are able, make a donation and give hope to those who are in need. Thanks!

October Leaves | Fashion Friday

OUTFIT:
JACKET (Similar Match*) | VEST |  SCARF |  PANTS |  SHOES | BAG*

It's my favorite time of year!! Chris and I took the girls on their first real outing to look at the fall leaves in the mountains, but it ended up being freezing so we never took them out of the stroller where they were all bundled up. There was a nice paved trail we walked on, really testing out our stroller for the first time (I'll do an official review on it at some point), and just enjoying the beauty of the mountains... while also nearly freezing to death.

This is my awesome diaper bag. I had so many diaper bags in my Amazon* wishlist for months trying to figure out which one I wanted most. I needed something at a good price, had lots of storage space, I preferred a backpack, and I wanted it to look nice too. I think this bag is so pretty and it holds everything I need for both my girls. I will be doing an official review on this bag soon, but I honestly love it and highly recommend it for anyone pregnant, with small children, or even who just loves backpacks as purses... with insulated pockets for bottles. Because, why not?

Favorite Trend: Oversized Cardigans & Sweaters

I remember growing up I was firmly against sweaters. I would wear a dress to church, my mom would suggest a nice white cardigan to wear over it, and I adamantly refused. Being honest, I don't know what caused my hated of sweaters (perhaps the 90s style of all the ones I owned) but now, I cannot get enough of the cardigan/ sweater trend.

I feel like oversized cardigans and sweaters are everywhere this fall and I want them all. As a woman who struggles with self-confidence, gave birth to twins last month and still doesn't fit in any of her pre-pregnancy pants, anything oversized is right up my alley.

Today I'm sharing with you some of my favorite oversized sweaters. Be they cardigans, turtlenecks, or otherwise, this is a trend I am fully on board with, and hope lasts a while. At least the length of a Utah winter. So, like six more months.

My Post-Pregnancy Body

Dress: Target (Similar)
Cardigan: Nordstrom
Boots: Kohls (Exact Match)
Socks: K.Bell

Five days before I went into labor I had a baby shower and wore this dress. I wore it with leggings because it barely covered my butt with my bulging belly (I also had to have Chris help me get into the leggings because of how insanely swollen my legs were). But in these photos I'm three weeks post labor and I can wear this dress as an actual dress! Win!

It's my favorite time of year! One of the main reasons I love fall is because of the outfit options. I absolutely love boots, cardigans, and wearing my knee-high socks. I may not get out as much this fall because of the two new additions to our family, but that doesn't mean I still can't obsess over the fashion.

I also just want to say how much I love braids. They're so easy and great for keeping my hair both cute and out of the way of spit-up prone infants. You can learn all about how I did my makeup on my last post HERE.

Bows

OUTFIT DETAILS

SHIRT:  Store: Ross, Brand: Siren Lily Maternity
SKIRT: Store: ???, Brand: Promesa
SHOES: Store: Ross, Brand: White Mountain

Yay! Fashion Friday! I love this outfit and a wear it a lot. It's a go-to dress up outfit for me because it's actually super comfortable and looks great. Please ignore how pale my legs are. It's winter. Forgive me. Also, it was not warm enough for me to not be wearing no coat or tights, but I sacrifice my warmth for fashion photos. Yep.

Fun fact, this top is a maternity shirt that my mom bought for me back when I was pregnant in 2015. I'm in love with this shirt and it looks great, pregnant or not. So it's a win all the way around. I'm loving my hair in these photos. I'm trying to find more ways to make my hair look naturally wavy, but I can't figure out how without using heat all the time. My hair is so fried.

Anyways, I did take a couple different outfit photos on the same day so my hair and makeup will be the same in the next few #FashionFriday posts, but considering I do the same thing most days anyways it's not too far off from my real life. I'm trying to do weekly outfit posts so we'll see how it goes.

Love this outfit. Love you guys. See you soon!

It's My Birthday!

Happy November 4th! Isn't is just the greatest day of the year? That's the biggest lie I've ever told on my blog. I have not been excited for today, seeing as how one year ago today I lost my child. But over the past few weeks, my excitement for my birthday has gotten better, because it's a new year, a new me, and I've been healing and doing so much better lately. It's still a hard day, obviously, but I'm happy that it's a day where everyone gets to celebrate me. Ha ha.

Some people might look at this shirt and think, "Yay, fall colors!" I look at this shirt and think "Yay, Kaylee colors!" I am rarely comfortable wearing anything that isn't black or gray, so while this outfit does not match my normal attire, the colors of this outfit do feel very comfortable for me, which is happy and good. It's most important to wear what makes you feel comfortable, inside and out.

And if you're sad there aren't a ton of pictures, it's because I had two dogs attacking me for the majority of this shoot. Zoram loves living with his Aunt Molly and playing around with her every day. He's also a bad influence on her. Shh, don't tell my dad.

Oh, if you read every part of this blog, just know there is no Heroes & Villains story tomorrow. It's not over (it will never be over) I just need to space out the next few stories to make the timing work. But never fear, it will be back on the 12th. Just enough time for you to catch up if you haven't read the stories already.

Same Shirt + Maxi Skirt

Please forgive me for using the same shirt in two Fashion Friday posts only a few weeks apart. I said in the first post how much I love this shirt. I think this only proves this fact. I think I should be apologizing more to my mom that my shirt is slightly wrinkled. Mommy, I'm very sorry. I know I'm a slob sometimes. Please still love me.

The warmth is here!! Mostly. It's been rainy a lot, which I enjoy, but it keeps the weather a bit cooler. But I no longer need coats so that's a great start. I wish that I could tell you where this skirt is from but it was a gift from my mom. Down below though I'll have links to a bunch a great maxi skirts for cheap so you can check those out if you wish.

I have nothing else to say. I hope you have a lovely day. I hope I can keep up Fashion Friday this way. (Yay rhymes!)

Spring Is For Flowers

This shirt I got out of the plus size section. I saw it and fell in love so I tried it on and decided I could get away with wearing it. But I'll be honest, there was a moment of fear and regret that I was potentially taking such a cute shirt away from someone who would fit into it better than I do. I genuinely feel bad if I think about it too much.

Also to all of those people out there (mainly my coworkers) who haven't noticed I dyed my hair red... can you tell now?

I really want Fashion Fridays to be a thing. Something that stays. So I'm going to do my best to keep up with these types of posts every Friday, but please don't be expecting one every week, we all know it won't happen.

It's Springtime now! I love Spring! The weather isn't too cold, it has been super rainy though. It rained most of the day I took these pictures, I was lucky to get out at a dry moment, but it was rather chilly. I love this season. I love that it means flowers are here. So I love wearing my new favorite shirt with the floral details!

At the end of this post you can find some of my other favorite floral print shirts available for purchase, so keep reading to see more of my pictures and to shop for some other great floral print shirts and dresses!

Welcome to 2016!

Welcome to 2016 and the new and improved "The Dancing Cow" blog page! I'm sure you've already seen the makeover, but what you haven't seen are the many posts I have planned for this year. This year is going to be BIG. I have so much planned and I'm being much more organized about it, so let's take a look at what you'll see this year on my blog!

CHARITY OF THE MONTH

This is the big one. When I first started this blog I knew I wanted to use it to bring awareness and donations to different charities. Somewhere along the way I got too discouraged since I'm almost always broke. But even if I can't always afford to give a lot to the charities I enjoy, I can still share them with you and still make a difference.

Every month there will be a new charity. This year is basically all planned out, but suggestions are always welcome and may even beat out the ones I have planned. If you do suggest a charity to me it will be featured on my Charity of the Month page where everyone can see it for all eternity. To suggest a charity just email me at thedancingcowblogger@gmail.com with info about your charity and how to donate. You can also write a guest post about your charity on my blog, just send me an email and we'll see what we can do.

By myself I can't make much of a difference, but with your help we can bring awareness to the many charities out there and help people all over the world that are in need.

FASHION FRIDAY

I say all the time that Fashion Friday is a thing, but it really hasn't been. This year I'm making more of an effort, but please keep in mind it probably won't happen every Friday. Especially right now when the sun sets so early, it's very difficult for me to get good enough pictures since I work all day. Just be patient with me and I'll do my best.

WRITING

I say it all the time, I AM GOING TO BE A WRITER. I am going to publish a book someday. But in order to do that, I should probably get comfortable with letting people read my writing. This year you'll be seeing a lot more of my writing up on my blog. I'm working on poems and short stories and I'm going to be sharing them with you! To easily find all my writing posts you can click HERE.

YOUTUBE VIDEOS

I have a YouTube page. It's been around for almost a year but you probably don't know about it because I haven't done much with it. This year I am planning on posting a video to YouTube every other Wednesday. All those videos I will automatically post to my blog as well so you have fast access to them, but you should also subscribe to my channel to get instant notice when videos are uploaded.

In addition to my planned videos, I am working to do vlogs of my daily life with Chris. Those videos will be a bit more random about when I post them, but I should have at least one a month. These vlogs are just going to be about our fun life together with Zoram... Zoram is our puppy. I haven't once said on this blog yet that we got a puppy. But we have a puppy. His name is Zoram Gerrard Farnes and he is adorable.

GIVEAWAYS

What kind of blogger would I be if I didn't have a couple giveaways? I probably will only have 4 this year, probably do it like a quarterly thing. Keep in mind that I am very poor so giveaways will only happen if I am financially stable and if this blog can get more sponsorship. Speaking of which...

 SHOUT OUTS AND SPONSORING

While this blog is about me and my life, it wouldn't exist without you, the readers. So I want to highlight you. Every month during my Monthly Favorite's post I will give shout outs to some of my favorite comments and followers from all types of social media. I honestly could not do this without you and you deserve to be recognized.

I do have a tab on my blog about Sponsoring. I offer a variety of ad sizes at different costs so you can have your own blog, YouTube page, or company advertised on this page. Now I'm not into blogging strictly for the money (which is apparent since I've been doing this four years and haven't made one cent) so 50% of any proceeds will go directly to the Charity of the Month. This way you can advertise your blog and help a charity at the same time. It's a win-win situation. Of the remainder, 30% will go back to you guys through giveaways. I may be poor, but I don't need money from blogging and I'd much rather use it on charities and you.

BEING HAPPY AND HAVING FUN

Last year was honestly one of the hardest years of my life. I have high hopes for this year, mostly because I'm going to make it great. I'm not going to wait around to do fun things or be happy, I'm going to be happy now. My theme song for the year is Tomorrow Never Comes by the Zac Brown Band and I am going to live my life doing things now, being happy now, because you never should put off what you could do today.

This year is going to be awesome! I already have a calendar with posts lined up and I'm so excited to share them all with you! Don't forget to follow my blog, and find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Snapchat so you can always keep up to date with new posts. I love you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Blogger's Maternity Style - Blogtober Day 16

So I don't have an outfit post for you today. I feel like my stomach kind of popped out this week (or I've been eating too much popcorn) but I'm still a little insecure about showing it. It doesn't necessarily look like pregnancy yet, more like weight gain, so I'm not ready for fashion posts yet.

However, I am going to start taking weekly photos to see the change in my stomach and I will be posting those.

Because I'm not doing my own style yet, I'm going to be showing you some of my favorite maternity fashion posts from other blogs.

Anna Saccone

This girl has some of the cutest, and simple maternity style posts. I love how it all just looks so comfy and cute. A lot of her posts for her second pregnancy include oversized sweaters, and if this year we have a typical Utah winter, I could easily wear oversized sweaters for most of my pregnancy. And that sounds just wonderful to me. Her most recent ones also include her adorable daughter so they are even more fun to look at.

A+ Life

Courtney from A+ Life is one of my favorite bloggers. I feel as if we have similar blogging styles, very open and honest just talking about life. She's not necessarily a fashion blogger, but she does the occasional fashion post (again, kind of like me). I like her maternity style a lot. Again it's very laid back, just comfy and casual. She's also just the sweetest person I've never met or actually really talked to and she had two absolutely adorable daughters. If you haven't found her blog yet, you really should take a look.

Fred Rongo

I grew up with Kalee from Fred Rongo, I love her to death, she was part of the inspiration to do fashion on my blog, and when I first found out I was pregnant I immediately went to her blog and stalked all her old maternity posts. She wore the absolute cutest things while pregnant. I honestly don't know how she did it. Doing my own hair has been making me sick, yet she somehow looked beyond gorgeous in all her maternity posts. Ugh. I'm not even that far in my pregnancy but I'm already jealous of how cute she was pregnant.

The Freckled Fox

This girl has the most gorgeous hair in the world, just so you know. This is another fashion blogger that somehow managed to look so put together in all her maternity posts. Seriously some of her posts are like high fashion, super classy, just amazing. The above picture is one of my favorites though, because it's closer to what you'll see me wearing through the rest of my pregnancy. But please please go look at the link to her maternity posts, because each one ends with a short letter to her little one and it's the cutest thing ever (and I may borrow that idea, but differently).

I'm excited that my stomach is starting to show even if it's also a little intimidating, but I'm also super excited to start dressing it and showing off my bump. I will be working super hard to make sure I get all the Fashion Friday posts I can during my pregnancy so you can always see how I style my baby bump, but just bear with me this week till I'm a little more comfortable showing it.
