Daycation in Pineview, Utah

Last Friday Chris and I spent most our time at Pineview Reservoir. We swam, ate wonderful food, and did a lot of searching for Pokemon. I forgot to take pictures the second day we were there, with  jet ski and paddle boards, but here are the pictures I did take from our "daycation."

So we took these photos at Morty's on their top balcony. Morty's is an amazing burger place. It's on campus and it's all unique and healthy so it's where all the hipster college students hang out, but luckily for us it's now summer, so Cache Valley's supply of hipster college students has depleted.

If you live near the USU campus I highly recommend checking out this place. This trip I had their Sunny Side burger which included a fried egg. It was delicious. They also have amazing French fries... and if you know me I can't resist French fries. But they also have scone fries, which are basically just scones in a dippable format, it's delicious. And another bonus, if you're a fan of the Dole Whips from Disneyland like my husband is, they have them there!! This restaurant is just a big win.

I am obsessed with my shirt in these pictures as well as this jacket. This jacket is old, I got it before I got married, but it's still great and I never want to let it go! The pictures aren't great though because it was cold and windy and we just wanted to go back inside, but the view was amazing!

Month of Gratitude: Week 1

So this month I am participating in #monthofgratitude on Twitter. I would love it if you would join me! These are my Tweets for the first week, days 1-7. 

Even though Halloween was the day before Day 1, I was still so grateful for it and wish I could upload the video on here. But it's not my video so I can't.

This included my immediate family and my in-laws. On the second day I celebrated my family with all my family and it was such an incredible day! I honestly don't know what I'd do without them!

Over the weekend I ate so much food! Ihop, Olive Garden, chicken curry... I didn't really gain 10 pounds but I certainly ate a lot! Also, as an incredibly poor and starving college student, I honestly meant the "real" part, because what I usually eat (AKA Ramen) isn't real.

It was my birthday! You can read all about that by CLICKING HERE. It was such a good birthday and I looked great that day! ;) Also, I always just feel 10 times happier on my birthday, and I'm grateful for that.

Honestly all the good things about my birthday can be drawn back to my husband and family. They mean everything to me and I love them all so much! It was truly the best birthday ever!

Honestly that cookie was so delicious!! It was the greatest! I love my coworkers and how they radioed us to tell us to go get cookies. Work is so much fun!

I shouldn't have been grateful for sleep though... because I slept in too late and missed class... But it was a good hair day. :)

Todd is so much fun and we have such a great time at work every day! He's the best! ...and I just want him to go on a date with my sister. We already fight and tease each other like siblings, we might as well become brother/sister in-law. :)

My Birthday Weekend!

So apparently I'm completely spoiled because I got a whole weekend to celebrate my birthday, and IT WAS AMAZING!!! This was such a good weekend and the best birthday ever, and, dad, I know you think I say that every year but honestly, this year was the best.

On Friday I opened the mailbox to find a $5 off coupon from DSW for my birthday and a beautiful birthday card from Chris's grandma! I love being a part of my new family! That night after work we drove down to Kaysville to my in-laws. We were returning the car I had borrowed so we are now left with just one car... because all my cars get taken away for siblings. We didn't get there till very late so we just ate some Wendy's and went to bed.

We woke up Saturday morning and went to Ihop with my in-laws. It was super delicious! I got the strawberry stuffed French-toast, and honestly it's the best breakfast ever! While there they gave me a cute birthday card with fish on it, because I married a fisherman, and a gift card to Kohls! ...which I've already used to buy two new shirts that are very cute. :)

Around two we drove down to Sandy to my parent's house and I watched my brother play Sonic and then I talked with all my family. Then we all went to see Ender's Game which I absolutely loved! I thought it was such a good movie! And now I want to read the book (Book Club option?). After the movie we went to Olive Garden and it was so delicious! Chris and I played our little game where we determine who ordered best, he did. He had the seafood alfredo (I think) and I got the chicken scampi. Both were very good but Chris's was better.

After eating we went back home and I got to open presents! And since my family is known for our crazy picture taking while opening gifts, you can see everything:

My sister gave me gloves, a head wrap (that I'm wear in most of the pictures), sparkly hair bands and an eyelash curler! :) My parents gave me a Walmart gift card, gray cardigan, mint/navy scarf, and super cute gray boots. And my grandma who was there gave me $10! :)

Honestly, my family is the greatest!

After presents we played Family Feud which was so funny because my mom is incredibly competitive. We first played Boys vs. Girls then Youngins vs. Adults. Although the "Youngins" were Chris, my sister, and me and we're all adults.

So the scarf my mom gave me has skulls on it and my mom is very much against skulls, especially when my brother wore it like this:

Sunday we went to Stake Conference in the morning and then had delicious chicken curry that I am so in love with and I got to choose for dinner for my birthday. Later that night we had some cheesecake which was super delicious! We added raspberry sauce and it made it so much better!

Then Chris and I played games with my little brother all night and watched the losing RSL game before driving back to Logan late at night, and taking my grandma with us to drop off at my aunt's house, who wasn't used to staying up that late.

After getting home at midnight I acted out this scene:

:) Because my actual birthday wasn't till Monday. My birthday started fairly normal. I woke up early and got ready for class. Had class at 8:30, volunteered at 10:00, went to class again at 1:00, went back home and did nothing, then Chris took me out for lunch at Paradise Bakery, because it's my favorite. Then we went to Kohls so I could use my gift card. Then I went to work but I got to leave early so Chris could take me out for dinner.

We went to Chili's because it's one of the best and our favorite restaurant in Logan. Our waitress was fantastic! She was incredibly nice and they sang to me and she gave us extra salsa to take home. She was great! We weren't able to eat much but took it home for lunch today. For desert we got their skillet cookie, and I'm sorry Loganites who think Firehouse Pizza's skillet cookies (FH'zzookie) are the best, but honestly Chili's is better.

After dinner we went back home and I got to open my presents from my husband while wearing my birthday crown.

I GOT ARIANA GRANDE'S ALBUM!!! I've been wanting it since forever and Chris got it for me! He also got me Warm Bodies which I absolutely love!!! He always writes the cutest things in my cards and I just love him so much! After presents we watched Warm Bodies and I fell asleep on the Love Sac.

I know this post is long and probably really boring for you to read, but it's sort of like a journal entry for me to come back to and look at someday. It was such a good birthday and even though Chris and I are incredibly poor, he spoils me rotten not with gifts but with love, I know that's totally cheesy but it's so true.

Happy Tuesday: Date Night Idea

So Sunday was our 3 month anniversary of being married. YAY! Being married has seriously been the greatest thing ever! It's so much fun! You should try it sometime in your life.

We wanted to celebrate so last night we had a date night! It was a typical sort of date night, dinner and a movie, but I absolutely HAVE TO talk about this dinner place!! It was so delicious and so much fun! So if you're in Logan, Utah, you have to check this out.

So when I saw Fiddler on the Roof, the program told me about this Kabuki place that I had never been to, and was pretty sure I'd never seen before. I don't like sushi, but it has hibachi grilling, where they cook the food in front of you. It sounded like a fun idea and they had a fairly good deal so we decided to check it out.

We got the two for $30 deal. This got us drinks, soup, salad, an appetizer or dessert and two meats with the rice and steamed vegetables. I know $30 seems a lot for a meal to college students like myself, but this place was very much worth the money.

So they started us out with our soup (so delicious), salads (best dressing ever) and our appetizer. We picked the won tons (I'm pretty sure), and I wasn't a huge fan of them. But I loved the soup and salad. Both were very delicious. The soup looked really weird because it just looked like water with some mushrooms floating in it (and I don't like mushrooms) but I gave it a try and it was super delicious!

Then he started to cook in front of us. He did all the cool tricks and he was lots of fun. Chris caught some food in his mouth, it was just a fun experience. (In the background there are a ton of photos, this is because they have a birthday club and they love to celebrate birthdays! All those photos, and more, are from birthdays. Chris and I signed up for their birthday club so we can see what kind of deals we get.)

Chris ordered beef and salmon. His plate looked like this:

And PS, those plates are huge, it may not look like a lot, but it really was.
I ordered the chicken and salmon, my plate looked like this:

Both of us absolutely loved our salmon!! It was cooked perfectly and I can't even describe how good that salmon was. It was perfect. And I've had a lot of salmon in my life, but this one possibly tops it all. (Notice how my plate is much more orderly?)

We both loved our meals! They were so delicious in every way! I highly recommend this restaurant. USU student, it makes for a great date night!! Wink wink!

We tried to take some pictures but my camera is awful in dim lighting. It only works in full daylight or night. Any in-between light and it doesn't like to cooperate. I'm kind of wanting a new camera. Anyways. So then we also got pictures outside with the sign:

And some guy offered to take our picture but the strap got caught on my wrist and my poor camera fell to the cement... it took a chip out of it and wouldn't like the guy take a picture, but it seems to be doing fine now... fingers crossed... I need it to last a while longer.

After eating we drove around and found an elementary school playground where we played on the swings. I'm obsessed with swings and could play on a swingset all day long.

When the time came we drove to the movie theater to see Despicable Me 2. So I'm absolutely in love with Despicable Me (the first one) and I could honestly watch it every day, and the second one did not live up to my expectations. It had good parts, funny parts, really entertaining parts, but as a whole, it wasn't the best movie. I was sad. I expected more from it. But it's cute and Agnes is just adorable so you have to watch it for her.

So there's a lovely date night for anyone living in Logan, Utah! Seriously check out Kabuki, it was so good and so worth the cost!

My Two Month Anniversary

As of today, Chris and I have been married for two months! And we couldn't be any happier! :)

Yesterday we took a break from job hunting, cleaning, working etc. to celebrate this occasion by using the rest of our gift cards given to us for our wedding. We have gift cards to Macy's, Tai Pan, Target and Applebees, all of which are not located in Logan. So we drove down to Layton to get all our shopping done. 

I thoroughly enjoyed our shopping trip! We got a cow shaped chalk board (so cute, pictures to come!!), a flower vase, a money jar, a Britta water pitcher and I got a shirt. We stopped by Chris's parent's house in Kaysville to trade cars (it's a whole long car story I'm not going to go into). We had a long conversation about movies and missions, and afterwards Chris's dad suggested that they take us out to dinner and we could save our Applebee's gift card for later. So we shared a wonderful meal at Pepperbellys.

I absolutely adore this place! This was my second visit there and both times it was amazing. It has this adorable retro service station feel to it. They play all fifties and sixties music. And they serve AMAZING Mexican food. It is seriously so delicious! When you first sit down they bring you warm chips and salsa that are normal, but good. Last night I got the smothered chicken burrito. It was absolutely delicious and it filled me up! It was a fantastic dinner and I had wonderful company with my husband and his parents. 

I'm so happy to be married to Chris. We love sharing every moment together and we're having a blast being married! And the best part, everyday just keeps getting better. :)
