I've always loved Halloween and I had so much fun creating this costume. If you can't tell, I'm a gothic princess. Basically, I wanted to be a princess, but I wanted to wear all black. It's like my whole inner self portrayed in the real life, because I wish I was a princess and I want to wear black all the time... and a crown, all the time. I honestly wish I could dress like this every day.
My husband kept annoying me for weeks because he wouldn't tell me what he was dressing up as. But he secretly created his costume to be the Knight Dragon... the character I wrote in my Heroes & Villains series. Let's be honest here, Chris wins "Best Husband Award" this year because the love and support he gives my writing is unreal to me. I love him so much!
Halloween is also the anniversary of my first kiss with Chris, so it's kind of like "our" holiday.
I made the skirt for my costume and if you would like a tutorial you can leave a comment down below. It's not something I would do without suggestion because it's been shown on many blogs before. I wouldn't be showing you anything new.
The under-dress and shoes are from Ross. I'm now obsessed with these shoes and want to wear them every day for the rest of forever, so be prepared to see them in a lot of future fashion posts. Oh, I will have a fashion post this Friday (which, BTW, is also my birthday).
Finally, if you want a makeup tutorial on how I created this makeup look, just let me know in the comments as well. I love doing makeup videos so I'd be happy to, but since it's past Halloween I understand if that's not something that's needed.
I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween and eat lots and lots of candy!!
Hey ya'll, I'm back for my third day of Blogtober. It is now officially autumn and it's my favorite time of year! So in today's post I'm going to simply tell you all the things I love most about fall. And it's a Saturday, so I'm sure you have more important/fun things to do then read a long list of my favorite things, so I'll keep this nice and short.
When the leaves change in the mountains and create beautiful colors
Pumpkin patches
Corn mazes
Halloween is the best holiday
My birthday is in autumn
Being able to wear boots all the time
Fall fashion is the absolute greatest
Sunshine and cooler nights
The crunch of stepping on fallen leaves
Colder weather is more of an excuse to stay in and snuggle
Goodness, it has been far too long since I've done one of these posts! So I may or may not have a lot of pictures today, we'll see. :) You can find all my new and old "pins" by CLICKING HERE and feel free to follow me on Pinterest! I'd love to see your "pins" as well!
Cutest quote and picture ever. There are no words.
I miss dance so ridiculously much! I went to Ballroom Fest this weekend and got to watch dance and compete (I got 4th) and I realized just how much I miss it! I'm going to talk to my old coaches and see if I can teach at their studio, because I really really want to!
When I first saw these pictures I thought "That would be really cool, I love Carrie Underwood" but I didn't think it was actually happening!! I'm getting excited for this, Carrie Underwood (AKA, one of my favorite female singers) in The Sound of Music (AKA, one of my favorite musicals)! Her voice is so incredible so I'm not worried about that, it's just a really difficult task to try to replace Julie Andrews, because Julie Andrews is a queen. In the Princess Diaries she played the perfect role, because she is honestly a queen. If I could only meet one celebrity, I'd probably pick Julie Andrews. She's so incredible!
This is called a "Blessings Bag". You're supposed to carry some around in your car and hand them out to homeless people. I wish there was a link with a list of what to include, but you can see some things in the picture anyways. Where this is the Month of Gratitude, I feel like it's time for us to give back to the world. I personally am so blessed everyday and there are people out there who can't afford the things that I can. I think this "Blessings Bag" is a wonderful idea to help others to feel a little better and maybe make a change in their own lives. I hope all my readers work this month to help others.
Halloween is over but I couldn't resist all the puns! It's cute and funny and I love it!
Use Nerf Guns to try and get the most points? Yes please!! When I'm a parent I want to have fun games like this for my kids while we're preparing dinner for Thanksgiving. Right now though, I think this would be super fun with my husband. Ha ha, we're like children sometimes. :)
While I typically avoid all things Christmas until December, I just can't help it this year! My coworker has been listening to Christmas music since September and I'm getting super excited for our first Christmas as a married couple (not with my coworker, that sentence makes it sound like I'm married to my coworker, but I'm not, I meant my husband and I). I'm just so excited! I need a good Christmas playlist and all these songs are fabulous, so I'll be getting them together soon. :)
This is quite possibly my favorite episode of Friends ever! Everything about it is fantastic, but especially Jason Alexander. He added such a great character in this episode.
This is the exact recipe I used to make cookies for work on Halloween. It turned out wonderfully! You can read the full recipe by CLICKING HERE and I definitely would because everyone loved them!
So this month I am participating in #monthofgratitude on Twitter. I would love it if you would join me! These are my Tweets for the first week, days 1-7.
Even though Halloween was the day before Day 1, I was still so grateful for it and wish I could upload the video on here. But it's not my video so I can't.
This included my immediate family and my in-laws. On the second day I celebrated my family with all my family and it was such an incredible day! I honestly don't know what I'd do without them!
Over the weekend I ate so much food! Ihop, Olive Garden, chicken curry... I didn't really gain 10 pounds but I certainly ate a lot! Also, as an incredibly poor and starving college student, I honestly meant the "real" part, because what I usually eat (AKA Ramen) isn't real.
It was my birthday! You can read all about that by CLICKING HERE. It was such a good birthday and I looked great that day! ;) Also, I always just feel 10 times happier on my birthday, and I'm grateful for that.
Honestly all the good things about my birthday can be drawn back to my husband and family. They mean everything to me and I love them all so much! It was truly the best birthday ever!
Honestly that cookie was so delicious!! It was the greatest! I love my coworkers and how they radioed us to tell us to go get cookies. Work is so much fun!
I shouldn't have been grateful for sleep though... because I slept in too late and missed class... But it was a good hair day. :)
Todd is so much fun and we have such a great time at work every day! He's the best! ...and I just want him to go on a date with my sister. We already fight and tease each other like siblings, we might as well become brother/sister in-law. :)
These are my first seven days of #monthofgratitude! If you are participating I'd love to see your Tweets or Facebook posts as well! Just leave a comment below with a link of where I can find them. If you'd like to follow me on Twitter you can find me by CLICKING HERE.
THANKS FOR READING!!
PS: I don't know why my pictures always turn gray... sorry!

My husband and I wish you a very Happy Halloween!!
I love this video and have since forever! Tomorrow is Halloween and I'm so happy! It's just a fun and happy holiday, I just love it! I hope you all are excited too!
This song is one of my favorites ever. It's just so funny and I love it! I love all the cute pictures in this video as well. Here is my other favorite zombie song that three years I got forbidden from singing in my apartment building because apparently I was annoying everyone. I apologize that it's such a good song and I like to sing it loudly.
For any new readers, at the end of every month I make a list of my favorite things from the month. I got the idea off of Youtube. To see all my other Monthly Favorites, CLICK HERE!
FAVORITE YOUTUBE-ER: The Piano Guys
These guys are absolutely fantastic! And they're from Utah like me! You cannot deny that these guys are incredibly talented and deserve all our support! This is probably my favorite video from them, but you should definitely check our their Youtube page and all their other amazing videos.
I love this website so much because I'm always jealous of what celebrities are wearing on TV. However, this website also makes me sad because I realize there is no way I can afford clothes like this. I recently pinned this on Pinterest...
..and it's so true. I swear I have good taste, but I just wear jeans and T-shirts all the time because I can't afford much more than that, especially now. That's why I stopped doing my Outfit of the Week posts, but don't worry, they'll come back someday because I liked doing it.
FAVORITE SNACK: Lofthouse Cookies
I'm addicted. Honestly. I've had four of these packages this month. They are festive and fun and I've always been in love with these cookies. So since my birthday is next month feel free to send packages of these cookies my way (wink, wink). Just kidding, but honestly, I love them. And just looking at this picture makes me crave them again... I have a horrible, horrible addiction...
FAVORITE TV SHOW: Duck Dynasty
This show is AMAZING!!! It's so funny! I've seen episodes before but learned this month that I can watch all the episodes on my Kindle Fire through Amazon Prime (to learn more, click on the Amazon links on the right sidebar, I promise you it's worth it!). If you haven't seen it, "Duck Dynasty" is a show on A&E about a total redneck, duck huntin', camo wearing family that made it rich by creating duck calls. I love this show, it's so funny but it's also great because they are a very humble and religious family that truly cares about each other. I hate watching shows like "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" because they are so annoying and rich and just seem so unhappy all the time. "Duck Dynasty", they love each other and they don't take advantage of being rich. They are just a wonderful family to watch and I love the realism of it. Their family is real, the Kardashians are so fake.
Anyways, super long rant, but if you haven't seen it, definitely check out "Duck Dynasty" it's such a fun show and honestly it keeps you laughing the whole time. There are so many jokes and memes from the show, so here are some of my favorites:
FAVORITE MOVIE: Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog
This is my Halloween movie. I first watched it last year while making Halloween decorations and fell in love and ended up watching it a million times and buying the album. I love this movie so much for so many different reasons and I just want the whole world to see it and love it too. I can't really explain why I love it without spoiling everything. So if you've seen it we can discuss why I love it so much, but if you haven't seen it you'll just have to. It's only like 40 minutes and you can actually watch it on Youtube by CLICKING HERE and please click it! You can also watch it on Netflix which would be better quality, so take your pick (Unless you're under 16, and then I would ask your parent's permission first, because it is NR). :) Also, who doesn't love Neil Patrick Harris???
FAVORITE SONG: The Way by Ariana Grande
This song has been stuck in my head all month and I sing it at work and annoy my coworker all the time. It's fantastic. I love Ariana Grande! The main thing I want for my birthday is her album, Yours Truly, and my husband knows this so he better get that done. Ha ha.
FAVORITE WEB VIDEO: Andy & Amy's Haunted House
I posted this for Web Video Wednesday last week and got a big response. It's just so funny and I'm sticking with the Halloween theme for this post. Ellen clips are like my favorite thing ever and this one is just too perfect, although I would be acting exactly the same, if not worse than they do in this video. I hate haunted houses.
This month I started linking up with Five on Friday with The Good Life. It's a great blog and I love looking at all of the Five on Friday posts and I just love participating in it!
I love that people liked this post! I did it because I'm incredibly poor but it makes me so happy to see other's liking it. I really am proud of all that I was able to accomplish with such a little amount of money, and people love it! The witch in the window looks so good at night!
This month I've also been getting a fantastic response lately from my Study Tips post, maybe because it was recently midterms. Anyways, I liked writing that post as well and am so glad that other's like it too.
FAVORITE EVENT: Little Bear Bottoms
I loved going to Little Bear Bottoms with my husband!! You can read about our adventure by CLICKING HERE. It was just so much fun and I love spending time with my husband!
These are all my favorite things of the month!
Leave a comment and let me know about your favorites from the month!
I love Halloween, but I hate haunted things. I cannot watch horror movies without having a heart attack. I avoid them at all costs, and my husband knows that. I once went to a haunted house and thought I was going to die. This guy took me on a date to a haunted corn maze and I was leaning on his arm the whole time and keeping my eyes closed (stupid kid, he totally did that on purpose).
People don't understand why I would love Halloween but hate haunted things, but for me Halloween isn't about scary things, it's about fun and dressing up in costumes. As a kid it was about Trick-or-Treating and now as a married "grown-up" it's about decorating the house, carving pumpkins, and the two year anniversary of my first kiss with my husband.
Anyways, I don't like scary things, but I love these haunted movie trailers! They are cute movies turned into horror movie trailers! They are a little creepy but they are funny if you've seen the actual movie. I hope you enjoy possibly the scariest thing I'll ever put on my blog.
Mary Poppins
Mrs. Doubtfire
School of Rock
The Notebook
Monsters Inc.
"Sleep Walking" (Disney Princesses)
Back to the Future
Titanic
Dumb and Dumber
High School Musical 3: Senior Year

So my husband and I are very poor. Not my Facebook "friends" version of poor where they complain about how little money they have but are always going on road trips in their nice expensive cars and Instagram-ing on their iPhones then head back to their beautiful home and/or apartment that they don't even pay rent for.
No, we are not that version of poor.
We are actually poor where the bank sends us notifications all the time asking us why our account is under, again. Yeah. Good times. We live off my husband's tip money so citizens of Logan, if you buy from Papa Johns PLEASE tip your drivers!!! We buy food with tip money.
Anyways, that was a rather lengthy and pointless tangent, the real point is that we're poor so we can't spend lots of money decorating for Halloween. But Halloween is my favorite holiday so I was very disappointed when I had this realization. Last year I made this fabulous pumpkin craft for my mom and decorated my parent's house but this year I have nothing? I was so upset!
So my wonderful handsome and generous husband gave me ten dollars (or ten "bones" as my work friend put it (it's punny because it's Halloween (it's not funny because I just explained the joke))) to spend on Halloween decorations! And even though ten dollars may not seem like a lot, I knew I could make it work, and I'm proud to say I did!
Let me just say that Dollar Tree is my friend (or Dollar ee, the lights are currently out). I know some of them aren't as great, the one by my parents house isn't that great but the one in Jackson Hole is fantastic, and the one here in Logan is pretty good. They have a whole Halloween section, but they also have other useful items.
Here is a complete list of the materials I used in decorating the outside of our apartment:
Black construction paper (available at most stores, fairly cheap, I already had some though)
Orange construction paper
Black table cloth (available at the Dollar Tree for one dollar, don't buy it at a party store!!)
Spider webs (the cotton-y stuff, available at the Dollar Tree for cheaper!!)
Styrofoam tombstones (found at my Dollar Tree, possibly not at all)
Black spider fence (found at my Dollar Tree, again, maybe not at all)
Chalk (I bought a 100 pack for $1 at Dollar Tree)
Scissors (already had some)
Tape (already had some)
So in total I paid:
$0 for construction paper
$2 for two table cloths (but I currently only used one)
$1 for spider webbing
$3 for three tombstones
$3 for fence
$1 for chalk
$0 for scissors and tape
...for a grand total of $10!!!
Let's get onto what I did. We have this fantastic dirt patch in front of our door (it has the potential to be a garden, but I didn't realize until halfway through the summer that I could plant things in it, so it just grew weeds, but we pulled those out recently so now it's just dirt, with a few weeds left). We were able to use this dirt patch for the tombstones and the fence. It looks fantastic!!
Then we have brick outside our door, so I covered all of it with the spider webbing. I freakin' love that stuff!! I'm pretty sure last year I paid like two or three dollars for one package, but I was so grateful Dollar Tree had it for cheaper! The package also came with four spider rings that I put in the webbing.
So, the tablecloth. I know you were probably curious about that one. While exploring the ever wonderful Pinterest, I found this webpage and knew I had to do something like this! It had no instructions with it though. I considered using construction paper, but figured that would just get complicated taping this together. So I had this brilliant idea to use one of those plastic tablecloths! I learned right away that you have to double layer it or it will just look see through.
I used the chalk to draw out what I wanted, then I cut it out with my scissors and taped it to the window! It was honestly that simple! And it turned out so much better than I had imagined! In the middle of the day when our blinds were open it was actually creepy to see a person in our window! I only used one of the tablecloths however, I have two other windows that I am considering making silhouettes for as well. Unfortunately that takes a bit of time and I honestly have none. So we'll see.
The actual first craft I did was making bats out of construction paper. It was super easy, just took some folding and cutting. I then taped the bats to the door, wanting to make it look something like this, and it worked out really well for me. If your door is likely to get hit by lots of rain or wind though, this might not be the best idea unless you laminate them. Mine have been up for a week though and been fine.
I also used construction paper to make a lovely "Happy Halloween" sign that I think is super cute (but I'm biased) and it just added a cute finished look to the door. It also made us seem less scary, which is good because we have a two year old living in the apartment right next to us.
At work my lovely coworker Todd said a fabulous sentence, "Speaking of dead things, I found something for you." (I think we were talking about dead cell phones) It was a creepy sentence and I was a little worried, but about ten minutes later he presented me with black mice cutouts, pumpkin pictures, and a Halloween... something... scarf? drapery? string? pom pom? snake? I don't know. I loved it all! Thank you Todd!! (Yes we're janitors, but he found them in a box that was going into the trash, it wasn't already in the trash.) I used the mice in the windows, I haven't yet found a use for the pumpkins or the... thing... but the mice are fantastic!
Below are all the pictures of my Halloween crafts and decorating (all spooky-ified)! I hope you enjoy them and get some ideas! I would love to see if you, too, can spend only $10 on Halloween crafts! Please leave a comment or email me so I can see your Halloween decorations too!!
Look, you can even see the witch in the window through the open door!! We loved the way this all turned out and hope you like it too! Holidays are so fun, but they don't have to break the bank! I hope you all find ways to celebrate Halloween under $10 as well!!
New Years is on it's way, can you believe it's almost 2014?? I love the simple-ness of this craft! I'm also in love with glitter. This could also be done for other types of candles. Like a leaf for November or mistletoe for Christmas.
These are the cutest little Star Wars costumes!! I absolutely love it!
I love this outfit! Love love love!
I'm so in love with cashew chicken! It's one of my favorite things in the world. Yet I swear every Chinese restaurant I go to, doesn't have it and it makes me so depressed. I hope this recipe is good!
