My Favorite Winter Accessories

I found it so beautifully ironic that during a photo shoot for winter accessories it began to snow. Going through the pictures you can see the snow slowly getting heavier. So sorry for the random white blurs, but I personally love it.

Let's go through each detail one by one. Everything was bought years ago (except one item) so there aren't any direct links to products, but I'll do the best I can to find matches.

RED HAT: Given by a friend
RED STRIPED GLOVES: Rue 21
EAR HAT: Pac Sun (Similar)
BLACK AND GRAY GLOVES: Rue 21
HEADPHONE HAT: Old Navy

I love all my winter hats but I'm particularly fond of the ear one. I had been asking for it and Chris gave it to me for Christmas! It's new, but I've worn it a lot. I also love the one with headphones. I was listening to the Heroes & Villains playlist on my Spotify account. A new song was added to that playlist this week in honor of tomorrow's story so go check it out!

I loved creating this post, I love winter accessories even if I don't always love winter, and I hope you all loved it as well. Don't forget to shop for your own winter accessories below, because if you live in Utah, like me, we still have cold weather for a while. I included a cow hat below because I do own a cow hat, and I'm a huge fan of it.

An Old Dress

DRESS: ??? CARDIGAN: Target LEGGINGS: Luxe SHOES: Costco

This was my church outfit this week. The dress I got as a gift/hand-me-down from my mom's friend and I have absolutely no idea where it's from or even what brand it is. I should also point out that I've had it since like middle school, so I'm pretty sure there is no way you could find it anyways. So... yeah... this is my outfit.

Also, if you noticed, I don't post my outfit posts on the day I actually wear them. So you may see sneak peeks of my outfits if you follow me on Instagram!!

One Month Till My Birthday!!!!!

It's one month till my birthday!!!!! I'm so happy!!! But not at the same time, because I just realized how cold it's getting here and during my move to our new apartment, I lost the bag with all my winter hats and gloves... and I'm very upset.

Anyways, back to my birthday, I've always been one to get super excited for my birthday, because no matter what, I'm always happy on my birthday! And being happy is super important. Except this year I turn 23 and I don't know how I feel about that. That number just seems gross... and old... Can I be 22 for another year? Or even just skip to 24? There's just something weird about 23...

So since it's one month till my birthday, and my husband says I can no officially start talking about it (even though I've been talking about it for over a month) I am going to make my birthday wishlist!! Please don't think of me as selfish, I understand I am NOT going to get all these things and I don't care. It's just a guideline for anyone buying me birthday gifts (like my readers, you're more than welcome to buy my gifts, wink wink (I'm totally kidding, promise)).

MY BIRTHDAY WISH LIST!!

  • Yours Truly Album by Ariana Grande
    • This one I need. Honestly need. And CDs aren't that expensive. I've been hinting at this to my husband since it came out so if he doesn't get it for me, there may be trouble.
  • Beta Fish
    • I've been talking about this since forever. I really want fish. I think technically they aren't allowed in our apartment, but I really want them!! I want two, a boy and a girl named Julio and Sassy. Yep. I've thought a lot about this.
  • Winter hats and gloves
    • Because apparently I need them... I'm still so angry. I really hope that aren't truly lost and they will turn up somewhere soon, because they were seriously so cute and I loved them all!
  • Clothing
    • My mom always knows I want new clothes anytime she gives me gifts. You know, Pinterest is fantastic because my mom can just look on there and see what types of things I want. It's genius really.
  • iTunes Money
    • I like having actual CDs, but some music artists I don't really like, I just want one song from them. So I love iTunes for that! Although my iPod is currently full...
  • iPod
    • I know I won't get this, and I do love my current iPod, but it would be really nice to be able to put more music on my iPod, but I can't. It's annoying. Actually, what I really want is an iPhone, but I know that's not happening to the point where it's not even worth it to put it on this list.
  • Sewing Machine
    • Weird right? But I really want one to do some of my Pinterest things. I know I won't get it, but I just want someone to be aware that I want one.
Please don't think of me as selfish. Honestly, I'd be fine just going out for a nice dinner with my family for my birthday. I don't need this stuff. It's just a wishlist. :)

Today's Ice

Yep. I nearly died today walking to/from work. Thank goodness my neighbor decided to pick me up halfway on my way to work and my coworker found me struggling on the ice and gave me a ride home. I know such great people!

But nothing looks icy, that's the scary part. I stepped out my front door and it didn't look any different than my usual morning walk. Except it was warmer. If it's raining, not snowing, it means it's warmer. I liked that part. Except the rain froze once it hit the ground. Oh well. I survived. :)

Cold

I love this video:

I live in Utah. Lately our weather has been a little like this:

I walk to work everyday so I look similar to this:

Except not, because my winter coat is adorable!!! It looks like this:

I also don't normal look like that. I was on lots and lot of cough and cold medicine because I was suffering from one of the worst colds of my life, I slightly look drunk in this picture but I promise I was not. Also, I don't normal look that fat. And I have lost weight since then. Because I have to in order to fit into my size 4 wedding dress.

BECAUSE I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!

Anyways, my point of this post is the video at the top. I've been freezing, literally freezing. Our poor dog. Who, in warmer weather, looks like this:

Has had her water bowl LITERALLY freeze over everyday. And while she normally sleeps outside, we've had to take her in, because when it's like 2 degrees outside, that's really dangerous for her health.

IT'S BEEN FREEZING!

I went ice fishing on Saturday and walked across an entire frozen lake. I'm pretty sure (actually positive) that a lake cannot freeze over unless it's actually freezing outside.

This reminds me of when my ballroom team would go to San Diego in March, when it's still pretty dang cold in Utah, and always still snowing. And we go to the beach and people think we're crazy. But hey, we're from Utah. Fifties are fantastic for us!

So thank you Jimmy Kimmel for the laugh. I'm glad you guys think you're just as freezing as we are. :)

Just Updates

So I'm in Logan for the weekend. Having lots of fun hanging out with my fiance. The main reason I'm up here is because we got our engagement photos done today! (thank you again so much  Lindsey!) But we've done lots of other fun things as well.

I went ice fishing today for my first time. My fiance loves to fish. Which is why I gave him a fishing related Christmas presents. So he has lots of friends who also love to fish. Which is great. And I actually go fishing with him a lot. But we've learned I'm bad luck. See, every time we go fishing together, we never catch anything, but if Chris goes fishing without me, he always comes home successful. So, as tradition proves, we didn't catch anything this morning. But I did nearly freeze my toes off and we walked across the entire lake and heard the ice cracking below us. It was certainly an adventure!

We rented the third season of Friends and I've been watching all the episodes. I just love that show and we are trying to go through all the episodes. But it's difficult because there are very few movie rental places anymore and the one we do know of doesn't have the first two seasons, which is fairly important if your planning on watching a whole series. So...
Dear Netflix,
I would greatly appreciate it if you would put all the seasons of Friends on your website. I would watch every episode multiple times like I have with How I Met Your Mother and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and it would just be great! Thanks so much!
Kaylee
Getting our engagements done was great! Except it was freezing! It snowed all last night so we had a beautiful amount of glittery snow to work with and it was fantastic! But it was so cold! At one point I felt like I had been at the dentist and he had numbed my lips because it was really difficult to smile. I wonder what those pictures turned out like... I should be getting them back in one to three weeks. I'll keep you posted.

I played FIFA with Chris. I hate games, but I usually like video games. And while I have nothing against this one, I was just pushing buttons. I had no idea what I was doing. It was a struggle. And in normal soccer, the score doesn't usually end up 7 to 0. So... totally unrealistic game play.

We have gone out to eat for every meal. We've had Subway, Wendy's, Rumbi, Jimmy Johns, Einstein Bagels, and Cafe Rio. And the greatest milkshakes in the world. Seriously! I first had it on New Years, the first thing I had in 2013 and it was the greatest milkshake of my life, and I had it again on Thursday, still the greatest milkshake of my life. F'real. Find one and get it!!!

Winter Cow

Clyde the Cow is now playing in the snow! He loves playing in the snow and making snow angels and snowmen!

If you're confused, Clyde was only named a few minutes ago by my sister. But I love the name! And he needed a name anyways. Thanks Michelle!

Rudolph and his Red Nose: The True Story

RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER

This week I've had a terrible cold, and while this picture is majorly edited (and 3 years old), I did indeed have a very red nose from blowing my nose so much.

HAD A VERY SHINY NOSE

I'm a huge believer in Vaseline and I used it to help soothe my hurt nose. So my nose was very shiny.

AND IF YOU EVER SAW IT, YOU WOULD EVEN SAY IT GLOWS

I wouldn't say my nose was glowing... but I did feel very hot because of how rubbed raw it was, so if felt hot and glowing.

ALL OF THE OTHER REINDEER USED TO LAUGH AND CALL HIM NAMES

Okay, maybe if Rudolph looked like this one, it would make more sense for them to make fun of him. But lets think this through: red, shiny, glowing nose... Rudolph is clearly suffering from a weak immune system like me and his poor little body clearly can't handle the hostile North Pole weather! So their teasing and name calling is absolutely horrible and unfair!

THEY NEVER LET POOR RUDOLPH JOIN IN ANY REINDEER GAMES

Well of course they didn't let him play! If he's like me, he was too busy coughing, sneezing, and blowing his nose to concentrate on actually playing the game!

I guess the rest of the song doesn't prove my point that RUDOLPH WAS CLEARLY ONLY SUFFERING FROM A COLD. Like me. The end.

*Note: I have a hatred of playing Christmas music before December. This is the only exception I'm allowing, to prove a point.

Also, thank you PicMonkey for making me look like a reindeer and Google for the pictures.

Snow Day

Two-ish years ago when I was living in Logan there was a storm warning for the "Storm of the Century"! I had a ballroom performance cancelled, classes were cancelled, it was a pretty big deal.... Until the storm hit. It wasn't that bad at all, and didn't last very long. My friends and I were sledding during the "storm" and even drove to Dominos for some pizza. The power didn't go out like the news had predicted, and we were all just fine.

I'm pretty sure that this snow we've been getting today is worse than that. It started snowing yesterday sometime before I woke up (at 8:00 AM) and it didn't stop until today at 2 ish. There is a ridiculous amount of snow outside! It kept me from driving to Logan today to get my ring fixed and see my fiance. When we finally could drive, we drove down the street to see tons of broken tree branches lining the road because of the amount and the weight of the snow.

While this storm can't be considered a blizzard, it was still pretty bad because of the amount of snow. If you're in Utah I hope you made any journeys through this snow safely! I hope your weekends weren't ruined by the snow, like mine. Have a great rest of the weekend!!

These are taken from my porch at about 11 AM this morning.

Month of Gratitude: Day 9

I apologize that the past couple days my only posts have been these gratitude things. This week has felt very stressful and crazy and I was going a little crazy (still am) so these gratitude posts were all I could muster. I'll work on that...

Today I am most grateful for my fiance, and I'll probably say that a million times, but he deserves it. I really have been having a bad week. Today wasn't so great either. It snowed all day, I hate snow (except on Christmas), my mom is stressing me out, she thinks it's her wedding not mine and doesn't care what Chris and his family want for the wedding, and I worked lots of hours this week, and while I love my job working with little kids, little kids and babies can make life stressful. So this week I haven't been feeling so great emotionally, physically, and mentally.

But my fiance took me to the Real Salt Lake game last night, we hung out at my house after the game watching TV, he slept on my couch, this morning we looked at our wedding reception venue (it's gorgeous, I'll write about it sometime soon), went out to eat, got cookies, and just talked. And it made me completely forget how stressed I was, how depressed I was feeling, and how sick I felt. He seriously took away all my stress.

I love Christopher because when I'm with him, I am at my most comfortable and happy state of mind. He completes me and makes me feel better no matter what. So today, he is what I am most grateful for in my life. I cannot wait to be married to him for time and all eternity!

Products That Just... What?

I love exciting new inventions and products that make our lives better and easier. Example, I'm in love with my Kindle Fire. It's incredibly useful and just fun. But there are some new things that I just... what? Really? Can they be serious? So here's my list of weird inventions, products, technology, etc.

1. The Facekini

Okay, I barely even have words for this one. Seriously? Someone thought this was a good idea? Apparently it's the new thing on China beaches (article found here: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2012/08/22/facekini-craze-takes-over-beaches-in-china/ ). My favorite part of this article is this:
"Note: the Facekini is also just the ticket if one is going straight from the beach to a bank robbery."
Do people really want to wear that to a beach? The colors make it beautiful and all... no... still not beautiful. Quite honestly, it creeps me out. But hey, if you're really that afraid of getting sunburnt or skin cancer, it's quite useful.

2. Bathmat that turns red when wet

Okay, this one makes me laugh, and is actually pretty cool. But red? Red is one of my favorite colors and all, but this seriously looks like blood. You could really freak someone out I guess...

3. Picnic Pants: For When Eating Off Your Crotch is Something You Want to Do

I swear I'm not making this stuff up. Sometime I worry about the laziness in America (and other places around the world). You can't balance a plate on your leg? You need pants to hold your plate in place? Oh, okay...? It's only a bonus that it's super fashionable as well.

4. The Defibrillator Toaster

This one is awesome. I don't really have words for it. I think it's funny.

5. Shark Pillow/Sleeping Bag

I like this one too. How fun would that be for little children? It's also great for teaching your children that sharks are nothing to really fear. Ha. But it looks like it would be comfortable...

6. AB Hancer

Ha ha. I don't have much to say about this one either. It's just too funny! This should be my new workout plan to get my six pack!! ;)

7. Honda Uni-Cub

Oh wow! How fun is that! You know what it reminds me of? The chairs for all the fat people in Wall-E.

The article I read about this product even said that Honda is supporting a fat future (found here:http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-57434692-48/honda-uni-cub-promotes-our-fat-lazy-future/?ttag=fbw). This are a bit better than the chairs in Wall-e, I guess, I mean they aren't as big, they don't have all these technological advances that make us just incredibly lazy. But there are others that are more like the Wall-e chairs.

8. Sleeping Bag

This one is great! On camping trips you can just wear your sleeping bag as your pajamas! And if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, no messing around with zippers trying to get out of your bag, just take it with you!! If I had this, I'd wear it around campus, just to see people's reactions. And then I could just fall asleep anywhere in my handy dandy sleeping bag!

9. Full Body Sweater

So I go to Utah State in Logan, Utah and the winters there are really cold. Like really cold. I lose motivation to go to class because I don't want to brave the cold. So this would be kind of nice on those cold nights... but really... I would never wear that. Why? Because I'm not an alien.

and here comes my favorite...

10. The Hawaii Chair!!!

Now I can't say much more than what you see in this video. So here you go. Shout out to Ellen!!
