Autumn in Logan Canyon

This post is a part of The Cache Valley Checklist

Alright, so this post is basically just a bunch of pictures. That's it. But before we begin, you should know that autumn is my favorite season! I'm so in love with autumn because it's the most beautiful time of year. Sunday, my husband (still trying to keep me happy from my recent emotional breakdown) drove me through the canyon to look at all the pretty leaves changing colors and to pick leaves to press.

When I was younger my parents once took us into the mountains and we picked our favorite leaves off the ground and we pressed them into a large book. (This is what you can use the textbooks you can't sell for!!) It was so much fun and we still have those leaves in that book. So I wanted to press leaves with my husband. So on our drive we stopped to pick leaves.

I can't say "Let's drive through the canyon" without my husband thinking "FISHING". Yep. So he took his fishing pole and we stopped at First Dam, Second Dam, and Third Dam. He fished and I took almost 200 pictures. Ha ha. Chris did catch a fish at Third Dam. It was a little guy and we let him go (you'll see a picture of him below).

I don't think I have much else to say. Just enjoy the beautiful pictures (semi beautiful, I need a new camera). If you have your own adventure looking at autumn leaves, I'd love to see them! Leave a comment or send me an email! Thanks for reading/looking!!

There's almost 50 pictures so if you want to see them all at one point you'll have to click the link to read the whole story. Thanks!

Driving Through Puddles

So it was raining all morning and we played out in the rain (and got soaking wet!) and a huge puddle appeared near our apartment, so we drove really fast through it, multiple time. :) Here is the end result, enjoy!

Welcome to September!!! (and August in Review)

Welcome to September everyone!

I always like September. It's when (in Utah) we can pull out our boots and scarves. I can wear jeans and not be sweating like crazy. Things cool down. People get too excited about Halloween coming up. The leaves begin to change colors. It's the first full month of school. The weather is perfect. My brother turns 18 (actually, I don't want to think about that, he's way too young to be turning 18). September is a beautiful month and I am so excited for it!

I set the bar incredibly high for myself last month by writing 42 blog posts... 42 in 31 days? Crazy! And while I would love so badly to beat that number this month, I'm almost positive I can't, because I'm focusing a lot on school. So if I seem MIA for the next... four years... it's because I'm being a good student.

So this is also my August Review post (with pictures!!!) and I'm just going to talk about all the crazy things that happened to us this August.

So end of July/beginning of August we were in Jackson Hole! My family goes there every year and it was so great to have my husband come with me this time! We visited Yellowstone and Old Faithful, like in the picture above, and just had a fantastic time there! I absolutely love going to Jackson!!

So this is a picture of the inside of a car (and it was taken in July, but works for these purposes). Chris's car broke down this month. It was awful. However because of that, Chris's parent's brought up a spare car for us to use, and now that Chris's car is fixed, we have two cars! Which is really nice. The spare one is for Chris's brother, but he's on a mission till November so he doesn't really need it right now.

We both got Pell Grants this year from the government to help pay for our school! I was super excited! Even though they still messed things up and dropped my classes and I still had to pay money, getting that money was exactly what we needed.

This month I started a goal to read one book every month, which is also my new Book Club. I'm pretty sure no one has joined my book club yet, but that's okay. I know that it'll be a little rough in the first few months, and I'm fine with that. For September we'll be reading Beautiful Creatures. So if you want a goal to read a book a month, you can join my book club, it's absolutely no commitment. And please leave comments of book suggestions! Thanks!

I first discovered this trailer in the month of August, and that's why it's in this post. This commercial honest gives me chills and makes me smile. I can't explain it. Bravo on making an awesome trailer! I'm super excited to see this movie! This movie is based off of a short story by James Thurber and I hope to read it before the movie comes out. But we'll see. Maybe I'll add it to my book club.

I became a crossing guard this past month. Ha ha. It makes me feel old or something. Anyways, I'm just an alternate, so when the other guards are sick or on vacations they call me up. I've only done it once since school started (besides my training) so it's not steady income. But I get paid $2 more there than at my regular job, so doing it every now and then is fun. Plus I get to talk to little kids, which is always fun.

I also got my janitor job back at the student center. It's not exactly what I wanted to do, but I absolutely love my boss and the kid I'm partnered with, Todd, we're real good friends. It's a fun job and I'm actually really good at it. It's just sometimes, we find nasty things in the bathrooms as we're cleaning them, and I'm not too fond of that part of the job. But it proves that I work hard to get my money.

My best friend got married this month! I'm so happy for her and I loved spending the day with her! She looked so beautiful and so happy the whole day! CONGRATULATIONS LAUREN AND TREVOR!!

For Lauren and Trevor's wedding gift I made them these mugs! I was super proud of myself! If you would like to know how I made these mugs, leave a comment below! It's super easy, but I'd love to make a tutorial for you if you want one.

This mountain near our home caught on fire! My camera did a fantastic job with this picture... I'm amazed. (PS, these pictures are not necessarily in order)

But for me, the biggest thing about this month was that I started college again, after taking a year off of school. I had a fantastic first week and although I have tons of reading homework already, I'm so excited for this semester! I'm just so happy to be back in school (even though I have no idea what my major should be anymore, help me!!).

Well this is my August Review post! I hope you enjoyed it! August was a crazy month for me and I had a major breakdown in the middle, but it ended perfectly (with my dad's birthday!) and I loved it! I'm super excited for September (and my brother's birthday!) and to continue on with this semester, but keep in mind I am a full time student and a part-time custodian so if I don't post a lot it's because I'm either doing homework or catching up on sleep. Please forgive me.

Thanks for reading!!

Why Being Married Is Fun

While Chris and I spent our day doing boring "adult" activities, today was a really great day in our marriage? Why? Because we're starting new lives together and we're doing everything together! Here is the basic schedule of today and why it was so fun.

Working out.

Chris and I did Jillian Michael's Six Week to Six Pack workout DVD this morning. It was really fun struggling, sweating and accidentally hitting each other during the video while also working towards healthier and fitter bodies.

Going out to lunch.

We went to Paradise Bakery for lunch! I don't think I've ever talked about Paradise Bakery on here before. I love Paradise Bakery!!! My favorite thing there is their Cheddar Broccoli soup. It is so dang good! Their cookies are also amazing! If you like coconut, get their chocolate chip with coconut, but the plain chocolate chip is good too. All their cookies are good. And usually buy one get one free (but don't get mad at me if that's not true for you).

Starting a new bank account.

Chris's friend Ben works at Mountain America and helped us start our new bank account! We got to deposit all the checks we got for our wedding. We have money now! It was a fun experience to share together because it's like we're really starting a new life together. We share a bank account now!

Make wedding returns and purchases.

We had to return a few duplicate gifts and we received in-store credit. We had a buy a few things for our apartment but also some fun things for us.

Cleaning Chris's car.

I think it's so funny cleaning Chris's car. He always tries to spray me with the thing. His car was filthy inside and out, and there's still paint permanently on the tires from our wedding.

Cleaning the kitchen.

I've finally got Chris trained to help clean the kitchen (that's a joke, but he is good at helping out, much better than the week we moved in here). And I like working together to get the dishes done and the counters cleaned.

Now reading through this you're probably like, "What the hay? That's not fun! Those are all chores!" So let me explain. I love Chris and any time that we get to spend together always ends up being the best of times. Today was fun because I got to spend it with Chris. More than that, we were truly starting an "adult" married life together (adult in quotations because we won't be acting like adults for a while). We have an apartment that we get to pay bills on and buy things for, and I love it! It's those little things that make marriage fun to me, because we're changing our lives so that we can be together forever. I love married life!

Tomorrow is our one month wedding anniversary! Wa hoo! I'm so happy that we're married! I'm so happy that we're together! Our lives have changed in the greatest ways in the past month and I'm so happy that I have eternity to spend with my new husband! :)

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

With one week left till Christmas I feel I should make my Christmas wishes known.

I've been very good this year... well maybe... I failed some classes... and then left school... but I am going back to school next year!! That's good. I haven't completely given up. And I stopped being gothic... sort of. I still wear dark makeup and mostly wear black, but my makeup isn't quite as dark anymore. My eyeliner is technically gray. But my nails aren't black anymore... although I prefer them that way...

Anyways, I've been very good.

So I have a few wishes for Christmas this year. The first one being Christmas itself. Everyone keeps saying the world is going to end...

... but I really enjoy Christmas every year!!! I don't want the world to end before Christmas! And I'm pretty sure every child in the world wants Christmas too. I work with kids, I know a few things. So, yeah? You'll help keep the world from ending? I heard you're in a new movie where you save the world with Chris Pine... ahem, I mean Jack Frost. So you can do it! I believe in you! Besides, I really want to get married to my Christopher, so if the world ends before that happens, I won't be too happy. I'm sure you're tight with our Heavenly Father anyways (Jesus is the reason for the season!) and I know he'd be willing to help out with a good cause.

I want a car for Christmas. And if not a car, then the hope and possibility that I'll get one this upcoming year. My dad has been saying he'll buy me a car for the past three years, and it hasn't happened yet. So if you could just give him a little push that would be great. (and I actually really like the Honda Fit

It doesn't have to be new, but I do love this car.)

Hmm... what else?

Well the usual, clothes, itunes money, shoes, jewelry, etc. I typically have fairly basic needs.

Most importantly I want this to be the best Christmas ever!! With me getting married, this is sort of like my last Christmas with just my family! It has to be perfect! And by perfect, I don't mean tons of gifts or even a single expensive gift (like a car). I just want my family to be together and to be happy and to just enjoy the day together! I have been blessed with the most wonderful family!! Please make it a wonderful Christmas for us!

Thank you Santa for all you do! You really are getting the kids at my work excited. They are very anxious about you coming in on Thursday! Me too. It will be lots of fun!

Thanks again Santa!

Love,

Kaylee

Top Ten Reasons I Love My Fiance

(very similar to Top Ten Reasons I Love My Boyfriend, but there are some differences)

1. When we're driving in the car he takes my hand and kisses it. It's just adorable.

2. He goes along with things to humor my weird ideas or quirks.

3. He's willing to help when planning our wedding.

4. He stopped chewing gum for me. Because I just really hate gum and the smell makes me nauseous.

5. When we go to movies together he turns to look at me and whispers "I love you".

6. He opens my car door for me.

7. Our love for each other has never faltered, only grown stronger, even through arguments and trials.

8. He consults me before shaving or cutting his hair. Which is just kind of funny, but it makes me happy that he cares what I think. (and he knows he can't do anything drastic since we're getting engagement photos soon)

9. He takes care of me when I'm sick. Even when we're not near each other, he tries to make me feel better.

10. He drove 2 hours to pick me up to drive back to Logan so we could spend the weekend together. And what a wonderful weekend it is. :)

R.I.P. Cari

Cari was a very near and dear friend of mine. For many many years.

We went on awesome and eventful car rides to give presents to people 3 months after their actual birthday, and then they weren't there so we left.

We played with her many toys, like ninja swords.

We witness this sight together after a drive to the temple. Yes, the temple. (But I think the gorilla forgot to bring his recommend, because he stayed outside)

We took dramatic photos together.

But she died Saturday night in a horrible accident. The snow was just too slippery for her to handle... Now look at her:

Oh... did you not realize I was talking about a car? :)

But seriously. I learned to drive with this car, I drove it all through high school and a little bit through college. I loved this car!! It did matter to that it had so many problems, I loved it! It was MY car, my first car, and my favorite. I loved it because it got me where I needed to go, and sometimes it took me where I didn't know I wanted to go, I sat on the trunk with my friends and talked, she let me sit and cry in her sometimes, she listened to my problems with no complaint, we experienced the most beautiful places together, we went through troubles and trials together. I loved this car! Cari is my favorite!

But even though she can still run after hitting a pole, she's not really worth fixing her up. I'm sad. I'm sad she's going to leave my family. We got her years ago from my Nana, and my Nana had her years before we did. She was driven by every member of my family. My sister had her at college, my brother had her now, but I had her the most.

So goodbye Cari! You were a fantastic car! I'm sorry my brother had to run you into a pole.
